Re: What to wear for honeymoon?
I just can't fathom the idea that people who have dressed modestly for most of their lives, will be willing to just "let loose" for their honeymoon....i mean unless they are forced to dress modestly at home and prefer to dress differently, then I get it...but if you are going to "let loose" on your honeymoon and then come home and be the sweet, modest, desi girl again...then it's hypocritical.
reminds me of the selective hijabans.
Re: What to wear for honeymoon?
^ Thats interesting, isn't it? lol
Re: What to wear for honeymoon?
I dunno I hardly think by “let loose” they’ll be wearing bikinis or something…maybe theyll be more relaxed and wear short sleeves or loosen the headscarf? ![]()
I think if one is REALLY concerned about being modest (and nothing wrong with that) there’s so many other romantic destinations where they don’t have to worry about hijab etc
Re: What to wear for honeymoon?
These maxi dresses are a bit more modest.
If you want longer sleeves, maybe you can wear a shrug over your arms.
Re: What to wear for honeymoon?
What resort is this??
Nothing is completely booked yet but we are looking at "W Retreat & Spa" at the Maldives, "Taj Exotica Resort & Spa" at the maldives and similar ones at Bora Bora.
Ok so everyone is suggesting maxi dresses!!!
Where on earth can you find a maxi dresses with sleeves???
Please help me out....cause I really love them as well...but I can never find any that don't have the plunging v-line in the back or front...and there sleevless....and im not comfertable wearing that!
Get the kind that are tube top style - that way there is no plunging v-line in the back or front! There are so many cute shrugs and thin sweaters in the market today ... buy matching ones to go with the dresses! Getting some that are the classic colors like white, black, and beige will take you far with these type of dresses!
You can also wear a tank top underneath the dresses that have the deep V's ... fixes that problem! Then just pair with a shrug/light summer sweater.
Best of luck!

Re: What to wear for honeymoon?
Some hypocritical replies... pfft.
Re: What to wear for honeymoon?
She can wear some loose fitted thin cotton pants, they're super light and summery looking. As far as the facilities, nobody really says anything. I lived on an island for a couple of months, and people could be swimming in jeans for all they cared.
Re: What to wear for honeymoon?
yah there are soo many options...ill be going to maldives for my honeymoon and i cover my head! nobody cares + u can wear long skirts...cotton shirts as mentioned above...stylish shirts with aladin sleeves etc...modesty does not mean that u lose ur style:)have fun!!
Re: What to wear for honeymoon?
depends on the weather and condition of that place...........
Re: What to wear for honeymoon?
there are lots of ways to beat the heat on the beach and dress modestly at the same time. I think that you mentioned that she is not hijabi, so she is probably ok to wear half sleeves or ankle capris.
I dont get the fact that even though she dresses modestly at home and at work, she wants to let loose on the beach. People will still be there, and it doesn't matter if they are nto watching her, Allah is. And if you don't want to bring Allah into this, to me, its basically saying that its okay to not be covered up in front of strangers but not okay in frotn of people you know. :S.
If her and hubby have a private and secluded area on the beach or by their hotel room, by all means, anything goes, and I would bet that her hubby would be fine with this as well.

Re: What to wear for honeymoon?
its ok to have dreams even if u r modest in every day life. if she like to go free she should talk to her husband he may also have the same dreams. honeymoon is all about a different and memorable experience. if she want to wear bikini or any thing she should go ahead. m also very modest and wear shalwar kamiz in daily life but on our trip to maldives i will wear bikini there cz we have very gud understanding and me or my husband dnt have any prob with that.
Re: What to wear for honeymoon?
i'm wearing bikini's only in our villa's. we have our own pool and garden which no one can see into...
i'd never ever walk onto the beach or a public pool ( although for a while i did kid myself that YESSSSSSS on my honeymoon i'd go swimming in the public pool/ sea ) ... firstly in the maldives its not recommended to go swimming in the ocean as there are sharks, stingrays and all sorts of wildlife willing to bite you! secondly ... its all good in context to say you'd wear a bikini but i am only comfortable flashing my wobbly bits to my fiance ( thus no diet required :P )
i have purchased bikini's , and when i do go out i will be wearing maxi dresses/ linen trousers/ 3/4 length trousers with sleevless tops during the day. I get very cold even in the summer at night so i will be purchasing long sleeved cotton tops and carrying my wooly cardigans with me!!
but my main attire will be maxi dresses - you can dress them or down :)
i am taking 2/3 pairs of sandals and 2 pairs of heels for special dinners ( one being my fiance's birthday) as where ever i read reviews people mention taking so many pair of shoes is not a good idea you won't wear any of them!! )
dress comfortably , at the end of the day its your honeymoon to :) if you feel comfy in wearing a bikini do it! if not wear a takini / leggings and tshirt/ shalwar kameez!!!
Also please bear in mind if you are going to a Muslim country like the Maldives/ Malaysia etc the butlers etc are all Muslim , they still advocate Friday Jummah prayer and secondly i reckon you'd feel uncomfy in front of an asian man dressed in next to nothing... not to mention your husband will go nuts !

dear sonia i have googled a lot n found that there are no such dangerous wild life around island resorts. also there are marked space for swiming and snorkling activites in the sea so no fear. 2ndly most of the staff is philpino, italian, sri lankan etc even if there are some muslim staff they are strictly professional and mind there business. vilas are at reasonable distances btw them so there are not many people around on beach. so if there are few gora couples pasing by we wont mind. 3rdly honeymoon is strictly romantic trip so no other thought should come near, even the though of "going in front of an asian man dressed in next to nothing". cz if m happy and my hubby is happy then every things fine.

Stingrays are dangerous :| if they sting you , you can potentially die!
My post wasn't attacking you , my post was based on personal reveiws of people.
I mean at the end of the day it comes down to privacy - if your comfortable wearing a bikini infront of the staff then go for it. I for one personally would feel naked if i stood infront of the male staff in a bikini. and i know for a fact my fiance would not be happy about that.
