I’m trying to figure out what to wear for my reception. I already had my shaadi and valima in Pakistan but need to do a reception in the US. I don’t want to wear the same outfits again so I’m trying to be somewhat different plus I want to be able to walk around at the reception. I found this picture from an online designer I have used in the past and her work has been good. I was thinking of doing this type of long dress with a nice dupatta with 3/4 sleeves and a more rounded neck line. At first I thought of adding very wide flowy pants underneath this dress but I thought maybe just the dress would like nice on its own. It’s different. The description of the fabric used for this is banarsi (white part) and chiffon (pink part). Can I get some feedback…does this look good???
Thanks
i love it the way it is … it’s really pretty and perfect cuz like u said u want to be able to walk around so this dress is perfect cuz it’s nice and elegant and very pretty but at the same time u can move around .. i luv it goodluck
Its beautiful....love the work & color of it & with sleeves it will look more elegant & yes u r right abt pants the dress itself is pretty good it dnt need flowy pants. Its perfect for reception. Good luck :)
i like it... really nice..
although i would go for the dress without the dupatta or just the dupatta on shoulder.im saying this coz its for ur reception...
How much will the designer be charging you for it? do u have the website or fb page?
Thanks everyone. I got this from the fb designer "bliss couture". I have to wear the dupatta because I wear hijab and wearing a scarf won't look good. But I asked her to make it very light.
My Wedding/valima clothes were part of the bari, so for my US reception I wore the heaviest suit I had from my jahez -- a green, burgandy and rust colored gharara.
The suit is okay, but I'm sure you can find nicer stuff in similar colors/kaam. I don't like the style of this one.
Thanks for your opinion and that's ok if you don't like it but it seems most people do. Like I said before I want something I can walk around in and a gharara is not easy to move around in. This isn't my shaadi so no need for me to be propped up on a stage. My "jahaiz" stuff is mostly party type shalwar kameezes so can't wear that. But I got a great deal with this and it will definitely be different. Don't wanna be the typical "bride":)
Jersey girl - so u have good experience with working with this fb designer????? can you vouch for her? Im desperately looking for a trustworthy person/company that I can get my shaadi and walima clothes from .... i live in the US as well..
Thanks for all your replies. I already ordered this dress with some modifications.
Catastrophe: I don't think that dress you posted would look good on me. I'm petite and that dress would suite someone who is tall. I wanted something that would flow well - not just straight down.
