My husband’s Khala is visiting from Canada, it’s a flying visit so she’s just going to pop around for tea, and then we’re taking her to my bro-in laws.
What should I serve at the tea? It’s the first time I’m meeting her and welcoming her into my home. I don’t want to go too overboard, as she’ll probably end up eating at my bro-in laws, but at the same time want to make a lasting impression. So far I have the following in mind:
Keema patees
Aloo tikki
Channe
Chicken wings
Home made cak (not sure which)
Gajjar halwa

Thoughts please...
I think that's more than enough. Chicken wings can get messy. You can do chicken salad sandwiches instead. I say pick either aloo tikki or channe....both are vegetarian....and the channa chaat will have aloo in it as well. Do one or the other.
Patties
Aloo tikki OR channa chaat
Chicken salad sandwiches
Cake
Gajar Halwa
Chai/coffee, etc
^You have a good mixture of sweet/salty...veggie and meat.
Haleem's a good option, but may be too heavy as she'll have to eat again when she goes to my bro-in-laws, I'll give them a call and see what they have planned. I'll add fruit though, and swap patees for seekh kebab, not sure whether to omit gajjar halwa or cake.
Spring rolls/ samosas
chicken sandwiches
aloo tikkiyan/patties or seekh kebabs chopped in half
Sweet
fresh cream scones/ a desi dessert such as halva
mini cheesecakes
fresh exotic fruit salad including pineapple mangos, strawberries, kiwi, watermelon and melon with cream
Drinks
Fresh Juice with savouries
Followed by Tea with the sweets
Keema patees
Aloo tikki
Channe
Chicken wings
Home made cak (not sure which)
Gajjar halwa
i wud suggest..hmmm..
for keema patties,i believe u would def. use puff pastry and put keema in it and bake it simply...dats the simple and exotic one...
i would omit aloo tikki...bcz doesn;t sound dat lavish..she is coming for the first time..c'mon make chicken+alu k kebab or beef kabab..?if making kebab is a long procedure then buy some chicken legs or thighs and deep-fry them or make it chicken tikka style...
alu channa chaat make this def.
make cheesecake..very easy to make:)
gajjar halwa no need i believe...put some chicken-mayo sandwiches ,.....its all getting savoury savoury...make fruit chaat...!!! ok dats all i can think of now at 3:25 AM yeah AM!!!
