Other than the usual clothing, meds etc, what else have you taken with you on a trip abroad?
Re: What to pack?
Depends on where you are going and the climate there. I'm assuming you are talking about France? When are you going? Take a jacket/coat (depending on season), definitely an umbrella, comfortable walking shoes, translation/guide book so that you can communicate with the locals if they don't speak English, a camera ... other essentials that you use in your every day life (tooth brush, floss, soap). Make a list of things you use regularly. I'm sure you can find everything you want overseas, but it is a bit cheaper if you take things from here ... depending on the size of course.
Re: What to pack?
It also depends on how long will you be there and if its business or leisure.

Re: What to pack?
Mehnaz- It looks like I'm jetting to Paris for about 10 days..it's not 100% sure yet...but most likely.
I've been reading up on tips on virtual tourist...basically everyone's saying that you need to pack light--2 carry on's are a max. They're also saying comfortable walking shoes, neutral clothing-blacks and greys, and lots and lots of film/mem. sticks for regular and digital cameras...
Re: What to pack?
Batteries for your camera and such , they are so costly to buy from tourist shops.

Pack a suitcase!
Re: What to pack?
Umm not trying to be too techy here but if you have any electrical device that needs recharging like Camera, Cell, Video Camera, MP3 Player etc etc.. make sure your recharging equipment works in the country youre off to. N.Americans use 120 V outlets whereas many european countries use 240 V outlets. Usually a small voltage converter does the job.
