why would you think we would know how you should proceed to talk to your potential rishta?

Because this is the life and relationships forum and the forum users give out advice ranging from good to the absurd. I'm looking for ideas

I'm sure you know how to hold a conversation right? no matter how much you think and prepare for it, it won't matter because its not practical.

Anyway here are some pointers

  1. Look presentable, no PJs or messy background.
  2. Make sure there aren't any distractions, music or siblings.
  3. say hello, find a bit about this guy/girl before you skype just so you can ask him/her during conversation (work, country, his interests)
  4. even whatever he/she says bores you feign interest, its polite and then just change the subject.

Just be normal and calm, it would be bit difficult to start but once it started after basic hi hello it should go softly.

Be the way you are and a little peice of cheeky advice, adjust your cam and collar well, nobody wanna see/show clevage.
May he be the best match for you.

be confident be urself...though this process is soo effin complicated..one has to be v careful...why do u have to talk to him on skype? why not face to face along with family member? does he live abroad? just curious!

I find the constant staring at the screen on skype a little unnerving, even when I'm talking to friends. I'd suggest talk to him on the phone first actually - that way there's less awkwardness, and you get an idea of some common topics, interests etc. Once that initial comfort level is there, you can take it to videochatting.

You can Skype without having the video cam on, just like you talk not the phone

Public need to see the face as well , as often voices are very deceiving and one shouldn't be building his/her expectation away from reality :)
