You try and make the one who is at fault understand where he went wrong. If you guys have been friends for so long, i hope you have that much trust on each other than you wont take sides or favour the other but just go with what you think is the right thing to do.

That is true (at least I like to believe) that they both trust me and know that I wont take sides. Only issue is that unless I take a religious pov, I cant prove the liberal one that he is at fault.

I would give them space and wait till they ask for help. Sometimes after thinking for a while they may want to talk about it between them both.

I dont think that they will ask for help, but your advice about giving them space and wait is definitely a wise one. I will.
