What to do?

When someone close to you gives you a present and you don’t like it so much. Do you still wear it to make them happy? Or do you tell them no I won’t wear it because it’s not my style but I will keep it with me… which is the better way?

Re: What to do?

WHats wrong with it?

Re: What to do?

You tell em that you'll wear it but you never actually end up wearing it. :D

Re: What to do?

It depends on how much you like them

Re: What to do?

In matters such as these... i feel its best not to hurt ppl's feeling by laying out the truth to them... so I'd just pretend I like it but never actually wear it.. if they insist, maybe u could wear it just infront of them and not elsewhere :)

Re: What to do?

Just wear it. Sometimes making others feel happy makes you feel happy also. Wear it to their home so they know you appreciated it.

Re: What to do?

Depends on who gave you the present. If your really close & comfortable with that person, you can let him/her know that you really appreciate it, but that's not your style. Or its probably better not to say anything & just donate it to goodwill or something. I once got a HORRIBLE gift, that was almost offensive, yet had me laughing. We know this family & granted they may be a littl epaindu, their daughters are pretty modern educated woman living in NY. Now for I think it was nikkah gift...they gave me 2 very strange long dresses!! That look they popped right out of the 70's...but the fabric was shiny plastic looking orange!!! oooh and it was sleeveless & very deep cut in the front, and almost had no back. Mind you one dress was like a size 2 & the other was like a size 10. Why the heck would you do that.....especially when you know that I don't wear revealing stuff...and besides that...your gonna give me utter crap...that the thrift store wouldn't even sell....ooh and to top it off....there was also this weird looking blazer with a ooober mini skirt....when i opened it...i was like WTF....i didnt know whether to be pissed or laugh at its stupidity. I told ammi to give it back to them, cuz quite honestly I was offended by it....especially when we went out of our way to get really nice gifts for the 2 sister's weddings.....but that;'s not even the point...why give me stuff like that....

Re: What to do?

thanks so much guys for all the comments... i gave my fiance this shirt last month.. it's grey with abercrombie written across it in this pinkish orangish color.. honestly, i really liked it. i thought the color combo was nice but he doesn't want to wear it because he says it's not his color or style. so i ended up getting mad at him after he said that he will wear it when he visits me. i just thought that he could have worn just to make me happy but i think i was over reacting.

Re: What to do?

Shay, i think its a good sign that he is comfortable enough with you to tell you he doesnt like the shirt.

Re: What to do?

yeh i agree

Re: What to do?

I accept the gifts , yes i don't use them if i don't like them :)

Re: What to do?

would u rather have him wearing it when inside hes thinking of when he can go home and finally get out of it ?

Re: What to do?

I'd rather that person be honest.

Re: What to do?

very well said
i agree. so wat if u wear something thats not ur style for one day
wen that person sees you wore wat they got you theyll have the bigest smile AND SOO HAPPY!
and thatll make you forgettt watever ur wearingg

Re: What to do?

thats true i understand ur feeling. but u know wat i learned was us woman are much different then these men.
so rather than geting mad. just be like hey by the way if u dontlike it lets return it nd get something u mite like and actualy wear. it just saves a lot of arguing and fiting.
lol

Re: What to do?

I concur

Re: What to do?

Wear it a couple of times then dont wear it...likelihood is they wont notice...

Re: What to do?

ive gotten some eh gifts and I was woman enough to tell her that her choice of gifts (for me) is terrible :D

Re: What to do?

lol! I always get money so I can buy myself something instead. But I have had a few unsewn clothes- If I like them I have them sewn and if if I dont I dont have them sewn

Re: What to do?

Oh i would definately wear it unless ofcourse its like a bikni...LOL! I really value any and all gifts i get...whether its a just a small card or something really expensive. If i dont happen 2 like somethin i get i would still value it cuz its the thought that counts and if some1 has made an effort n bought somethin for me that does mean they do care so i wud luv 2 reciprocate the same feeling.
