what to do with oudated joras

oi- just went through my wardrobe and realized some of my joras are past their prime…or too small. what should i do with them? any recycling/donation ideas?

Re: what to do with oudated joras

give them to charity like islamic relief or something at least some1 can make gud use out of them

edhi center in NY also takes them but they have to be 3-pc outfits and in good condition.

Re: what to do with oudated joras

i always donate or send them to pakistan for the unfortunate ppl there

Re: what to do with oudated joras

There are a few organizations that take entire sets of clothes for weddings in Pk. Other than that I get some many new clothes that I haven't worn that I don't really re-design recycle in that way. Younger cousins and relatives also take on some of the stuff (they usually shorten sleeves or make crop pants where it was shalvar etc). I've also donated to regular Salvation Army before since sometimes there's no desi outlet for the stuff and I cant keep the stuff around.

^ could you name those organizations, please? thanks.

Re: what to do with oudated joras

In USA , African American folks are fond of wearing those Pakistani outfits and they are glad to unload your unwanted clothes. Try to find a Masjid/Islamic Center in your area where African American Muslims come to pray and give it to them. In our city ,this masjid is run by African American Muslims and they gladly take those clothes and give them to needy.

Re: what to do with oudated joras

Is there anything like that in Toronto / GTA area?
I have tonnes of clothes that I could give away.

Re: what to do with oudated joras

Hi Dawn, I have some relatives in Karachi who take care of this stuff, the organization is called Kashana I think... not sure we usually try to take a suitcase to PK of old clothes.

^ thanks.

Can you please share their name and also if you know of any in Canada? Thanks so much

Yes, the Eidhi foundation has a thrift store downtown on Danforth. Can't remember the exact address but I can get it for you. I've gone numerous times to donate shalwar kameez and other items and they are more than happy to take them.

Chamak that would be awesome, please let me know their address. Thanks :)

Re: what to do with oudated joras

wear them while sleeping or donate them to afghans, christians etc..

If u can freely ship them to my office in isb, i will forward them to the poor ppl.. But its better that u find a charity organisation or poor people in ur city..
