At the end of every year I’m tempted to throw all the notes and papers away because they are never used again and because they occupy so much space. However, I invariably feel bad about it and decide to store them..because I think that if I throw them then I dont have any proof of my education and perhaps because I am somewhat sentimental!
Whats the practical thing to do? These things become a hassle when we move and stuff. Any suggestions?
I was one who had to clean her husbands boxes and boxes of books notes ..bills from the day he was born.It too me on and off couple of weeks as I had to look through em and not just pick m up and through it.Lot of them had to be shredded as they contained sensitive data like SS #...oh anyway are we talking about this :D
I had all my papers starting from Grade 9 to university graduation so that was a lot of junk! Finally I decided I need to declutter my life.
What I did is just take a small pile at a time and throw anything I don't need into recycling. It's tempting to take the entire pile of paper, but I know I will just start reading everything and not organize it. So anything with text on 2 sides got recycled, and stuff with text on 1 side I stapled together to use as a ghetto notepad for rough notes. When Im done with my 'notepad', I just go to the next set of notes. Still have a long way to go :)
Hmm...so mostly everyone is into storing this stuff. Now I don't feel bad, considering I have one medium sized box containing stuff from the last two/three years.
If they are so sentimental that you MUST keep them, but you don't want them taking up space, you can always scan them and save them on a disc or photograph them, and likewise save them on a disc.
