Okay for some reason people like to give me bibles. I’m not sure why…Maybe I look like a an easy catch. problem is I never know what to do with them. I never really read them (I have enough trouble making myself read the Quran), it feels wierd to throw them out. I have FIVE!! There was one at my door today, and i didn’t pick it up, cuz i didn’t want six!
Anyways, I want to get rid of those bibles- their clogging up my drawers, and i have no intention of reading them ( i have way too much to read in school!). How should i get rid of them?
ppl come to my house to preach and give out bibles and ask me what language i speak .... i tell them urdu :D and they apologize and say sorry we dont have any bible in urdu language
Prisons usually keep a good store of both Bibles (Qurans, too) for the inmates. I know it sounds like a weird suggestion, but if you don't feel right about throwing them out you could send them to your local prison. Just send it to attention of the warden, and send it via 'media mail' so you'll get a really low postal rate.
When ppl come to my home I listen to them a little bit and then from their point I start preeching them about Islam and don't let them preech and also keep telling them that my religion says this and your religion says this too. In the end I say I know everything about christianity from quran.
In the end I invite them to come again and come in and preech me. LOL
You know what Gulab Jamun? Do you think that perhaps the person who is placing the Bibles outside your door is one who is fully aware that you're Muslim....and is kinda trying to preach or convert you? It's possible. You can give it to those who would have a use for it. Or if your mom donates clothes and things to various charity groups, she can give the Bibles. Churches and libraries are good as well.
Next time someone approaches u with a Bible, just firmly tell them no thank you. And they should walk away.....Bible in hand. It's one thing to preach, but it's wrong to impose on another person.
Hey guys! Dawa is a big part of Islam, I would say if someone comes preaching to your door you are obliged to tell them you are a Muslim, and although you respect Jesus and Christinanity, you do not think the bible is the true relection of God's will. Finally, you would like to invite them to the true and right way and the only escape from hell fire, which is through Islam. (Watch them run not walk away from your house!)
I've tried the above and it works perfectly. When I was young and just wanted to 'mess' with them I used to tell them I was a satanist and wanted to sacrifice babies and stuff but that made them more motivated to "save my soul" but seriously try the above it works! and who knows you might make someone a Muslim!
Yep, it's Jehova's witness followers... we get them all the time here in London.
i have a bible in my library anyway (for reference), but they started leaving them on my doorstep (isn't that disrespectful to leave them on the ground?!?!?) So i donated them to a library. Just do that, don't throw them away. :)
I had to take an elective at the honors college and went for 'English Bible as Literature', where I had to buy a $300 Oxford edition Bible. There was a beautiful command of literals and metaphors in the old testament, as well as the book of psalms. Needless to say, I kept the book, just as I would retain any other valuable course book. My suggestion for you would be to donate 5 to your church (do not worry about the denomination they have an inter circulation system amongst churches). Keep one of them, for yourself and try to read it in your spare time. Books arent just meant to be kept in shelves. Next time you get into a discussion with some christian preacher, that information might come handy to assert yourself better, as a Muslim.

talking of bibles my dad is really interested in researching other religions and he bought home a massive bible and he paid £400 for it my mum wasnt pleased :/
^ That is very admirable, researching other religions is a good things. We shouldnt keep our shutters closed, and this helps build bridges and promotes the concept of co-existence which we so badly need in this clash of civilizations.
Also, if you pay a hefty price for a book, you make sure to get the best out of it.

i totally agree with you spock, my parents have always encouraged to read about other religions its good knowledge to know!
