What to do about this

its been only a week since school started after summer vacation and yesterday my daughter was down with fever and today both of my sons have fever. the last whole acadamic year was like this , one get sick then 2nd one and then 3rd one , by the time 3rd one was recovered 1st one got sick again. on hopstial visit we ask dr. many time why it is like this and what we can do , they always replied it is like this here(Doha). we moved to Doha about 1.5 years ago , so last year we thought may be its new place thats why.
but it started again as soon as they started school.
during their 3.5 moths summer vacation they hardly got sick(shukar hey) , one of them got infection and that was it. dont know what to do now, dont want them to be sick all the time with fever, flu and soar throat. any idea???

Re: What to do about this

I wish i had the answer. It seems everytime my daughter steps outside her safe zone like in the library or day care, she gets sick right away. Its very exhausting and i can totally relate. Maybe others have better suggestions. Btw, do they take vitamins regularly? Maybe that can help?

Re: What to do about this

Make dua and be prompt on dawa if doctor prescribed one.

Re: What to do about this

Ira , no they dont take vitamins, will think about it.

Mirch , inshallah from now when ever they step out will read dua and surah Fateha on them.

I myself feeling soar throat now , i think its my turn now.

Re: What to do about this

This is very common here in the US as well. School started September 1 and my little one has already had fever and tummy ache [many kids in her class and school did too], and my older one had a sore throat and fever. It's a welcome gift! All summer they've been home, less exposure to germs, a lot of fresh air and less stress, and mashaAllah, they've been healthy. Come school, you're suddenly exposed to so many different strains of bugs.

Best thing to do is:
1. Give your kids honey everyday. Helps boost immunity, plus it's sunnah.
2. Yes, a multivitamin. Kids on vitamins recover faster usually.
3. Make sure they drink water so they are well hydrated.
4. Good handwashing habits before and after every meal.

Re: What to do about this

i think you must take your kids to a Pediatrician and get his/her advice. i think you may also wanna move your kids to another school.

Re: What to do about this

thanks, good tips. will be doing this Inshallah.

Re: What to do about this

you know what i was asking same thing to my husband today, but i was not serious. My kids go to arabic school, I want then to learn arabic language so they can understand Quran better. and i really dont want to put them in desi school for atleast another year or may be 2.
and they do go to pediatricion and they always say its viral.

Re: What to do about this

gshaheen, thats what my daughter's pedriatician says its a viral. I myself have a cough and chest congestion for a month now and been to the doctor twice. She said its a viral and will get better on its own. A month is a long time and now i think the cough is moving onto a cold. Ugh.

Nice tips niksik, will try the honey everyday for all of us IA.
