How do you guys plan the cooking week? or do you just cook what ever comes in your hand
I am so confused … actually i am sick of doing the same dishes all over again .. I am bored of making them.. so I thought perhaps i need a plan , so that I can look forward to certain dishes certain days.. like for example when i was single and living alone , i used to do biryani every saturday .. and it sort of really motivated me the entire week to look forward to biryani
Thoughts? advises? on how to maintain a healthy diet chart without too much hassle or over doing a certain food …
My husband is very choosy in what he eats..so I made a list of all things we do eat and divided them into categories meat/veggies/pulses .. so the list sticks on my refrigerator now and I choose from each category everyday so as to mantain a healthy balance between meat/veggies/pulses.
My mom has started making a monthly plan of what to cook. She does, vegetables, daals and rice on rotational basis along with on chicken/beef/mutton dish. This way if one vegetable is done, once, it takes sometime to repeat. Sunday is my day and experiment all that i want:P
Also I tried fixing a dish with a particular day but it didn't work for me because someday I wouldn't have ingredients for that particular dish or simply not in mood to eat that particular food that day.
It's nothing strict, I break rules depending upon my mood but it saves the trouble of thinking 'aaj kya pakaaon? :D
We tend to plan meals for the week by varying what we cook each night. For e.g. red meat once or twice a week (maybe once as mince and the other as chunks of meat) chicken twice a week, fish once a week and a veggie dish. Rice/roti/naan etc are varied to go with each meal.
We also vary the cuisine we do - sometimes it'll be pakistani food, sometimes mexican, italian, thai, english, american, etc.
This week so far has been -
Sunday - Shepherds pie with seasonal veg
Monday - Palak with boneless chicken and naan
Tuesday - Chicken kebabs in wholemeal pitta bread served with salad/sauces and chips
Wednesday - today will be spicy tomato/keema pasta with garlic bread
We buy most of our grocerys when we do our big shop and then supplement this with a number of smaller shops to the supermarket. This allows us to buy milk/bread/fresh salad etc as and when needed.
This is a great thread for helping everyone with meal planning. Especially as when you're stuck for something to cook you can get some inspiration from someone else!
