there is no such word/caste in our area…there is a blanket word for all landowners and it’s called “Zameendaars”…Zameendaarii was abolished after independence in India.

RaiBhadur, KhanBahadur were the titles but don’t know if they had any link with Zamindari, Yeah Pundas destroyed their hegemony winning centuries old war with the landlords:D, my ancestor were misaldar but mostly chowdhary is used in Punjab and Haryana now:)

zameendars has nothing to do with caste most of land owing people in my state come from my own caste reddy and chowdhary/kamma

telangana part of my state has jagirdar system since nizam time,this people are so poor and always under control of jagirdars

What is the status of Naidus?? are they like Shettys in Karnataka?
