what things can effect fertility ?

  • I have a couple questions does taking birth control pills for a year or more affect your fertility when you want to have a baby?
  • if you way 100 lbs or less does it effect your chances of conceiving and carrying the baby through term
  • what other things can effect fertility or cause problems in conceiving or carrying baby through term

Regular birth control pills do not affect fertility much but docs mostly say that you should wait a couple of months for them to completely be out of your system before trying. Other types of birth control, the long term ones like Depo Provera do affect fertility.

If you are underweight, that can affect fertility. But if you naturally weigh 100lbs and are otherwise healthy, its not a problem.

Before trying to conceive, you should have a checkup with an ob/gyn. She will go over healthy lifestyle and all that. But basically if you eat healthy and live a healthy lifestyle, thats all you need to do to assure a healthy conception and pregnancy.

smoking and/or the use of recreational drugs can effect fertility. luckily for women, if you stop smoking, the negative effects on your fertility can be completely reversed in a few months, but generally speaking, its a good idea to NOT smoke, obviously.

its also good to be fit and active if you are trying to get pregnant.

i was weighing 70 pounds when i concieved n MashAllah had normal delivery :) less weight didnt bothered in my fertility at all MashAllah ...so i dont think it matters much

I only weigh 87 pounds and reading your post made me feel better mmkaki! Im only engaged now but InshAllah when that time comes I will have no problems... I have always been concerned about my weight being an isue...
