That it takes guts and will to save your country. That you can persevere if you are committed to the concept of nationhood. That you can defeat the separatists and other fanatic forces if you keep working on it. That you must love your country and destroy anyone who dares to damage it.
They killed the Tamil leader, just like Indians killed Bhindranwalay.
Pakistan too must kill the TNSM and TTP goons and hang their dead bodies high all across the cities of Pakistan.
This is the only way to show that a nation is willing to meet the challenges.
And remember the tiny S. Lanka has fought off a much bigger adversary in proportion to the size of their populace and their country.
The mighty Pakistan with 170+ million people can destroy the pidly Talibs if we have the national will.
Re: What the tiny Sri Lanka is teaching the mighty Pakistan
I think the consensus is building among vast majority of Pakistani population regarding the threat of extremism/Taliban/Al-Qaeda, its long due but not too late.
The core of Pakistan where most of the population reside Central/Northern Punjab & Southern Sindh should be taken care of at all cost, if normality & daily routine continue without any heavy disturbance, chances are we will be victor !
The big difference is that LTTE did not have supporters within the SL public and government.
Correction!
If I may.
LTTE has always had (and still has) very very DEEP and Extensive support base not only in S. Lanka, but in India, UK, USA, and Canada. Tamils just like Talibs were the local guys well entrenched in the S. Lankan society for centuries if not longer.
How else you think an Indian PM was suicide bombed by LTTE supporter.
How else they could run a successful military and political campaign for 25 f'ing years.
LTTE in some ways is better organized and more accepted organization on international level compared to Qaida.
This is a ridiculous parallel. The LTTE fights for an ethnic minority that has been disenfranchised. They want a separate state in the north of the Island. Taliban want to impose a new law and their ethnicity does not define them.
They had a much more serious problem, our army should be able to clear out NWFP proper in 2009.
Re: What the tiny Sri Lanka is teaching the mighty Pakistan
death of tamil fighters movement is actually a defeat for indians..isi and pak army have given a serious blow to indian butts by helping srilankan army ...long live srilankan and pak relationship

You are presuming that the Indian govt. was helping the tamil fighters. By all sane accounts, Indian govt was helping the other side, though not actively as us or the Chinese. There were some politicians who helped the fighters and maybe still are, but the overall sentiment was against them.
All said, the parallel with taliban is not far-fetched. Just like some people here support them, some people in India support the LTTE. Just like our agencies supported Taliban, Indian agencies supported LTTE.
But the difference is most of Indians finally turned against terrorism whereas we have a long way to go.
Re: What the tiny Sri Lanka is teaching the mighty Pakistan
all of us know tht who provided weapons to tamil tigers..so u tell me from where all those weapons were coming from?..they went on to fight against lankan army for decades...yeah it was al qaeda too..indians always wanted to play "bhai role" in this region..
may be indian govt went against them in the end after seeing their lost....even hameed gul said tht pak india r fighting in lanka..

Your correction is incorrect :)
LTTE has had support outside SL (including India), but not within the common Sinhala public in SL or the SL government apparatus. Al Qaeda/Taliba on the other hand have support of sections of the Pakistani public and Pakistani state. That is the reason there was/is a reluctance to put down Taliban with an iron hand.

haha dear u tried to ignore indian role in tamil tigers terrorism..accept it or not..this is the defeat for raw..and i neva said tamil tigers had support in lankan govt..abt al qaeda and taliban, our army does not want to fight with every taliban..beac mainly haqqani or mullah nazir group does not attack on army..it is usually bait ullah group which is supported by indians ,russians etc..
the problem in pak is tht people r not taken into confidence..we dont have any proper planning to face so many enemies..by the way, religious section of pak dont support ttp..if they were, then life would be 100 times more hell in pak then it is now..

LMAO! Its always hilarious to watch a bunch of khawaja's talk about the Pakistani people like they know what goes on in the streets of Lahore and Karachi. Well done armchair generals!

Well, the reality is that nobody knows. Everyone claims to know though. And just quoting your statement as an example, "streets of Lahore and Karachi", Lahore and Karachi are part of Pakistan, but Lahore and Karachi are not Pakistan. Pakistan is more more, much bigger, much more complex.

Re: What the tiny Sri Lanka is teaching the mighty Pakistan
Sri Lanka is an island. LTTE could not survive for so long without external help. Sri Lanka does not share a 1000 km border with India...
The case with Pakistan is that Afghans are not happy with us cuz we supported taliban... and taliban are not happy with because of obvious reasons. India has never been happy with us (why would they?)... Iran is not happy cuz of 'pro-american' policies we've had... the US cannot fight Taliban... pushing them into Pakistan instead... Pakistan and afghanistan share a looooooooooong border...
in summary, cannot compare the two situations.... but still... shouldn't lose hope... things are different... difficult... but that's when we wake up. I hope, this time, we do.
Yup, I agree, we cannot compare the two situations. For example, we can compare the LTTE with whatever goes in Baluchistan, but the religious thingy is totally different. Unless Taliban declare themselves start the revolt to create a seperate country there but thats not the case here.
well we can also crush the seccessionist movements as well either in balochistan or in sindh through force, but after giving the rights to all provinces equally which they deserve.
very little.. you cant just bomb everything.
furthermore when they were bombing they were bombing tamils whom they consider second class as majority is Sinhalese .
people didnt care about them but we do care about what happens there , therefore more difficult for army to do the job.
and remember prabhakaran was killed in the end not beginning.
