dude seriously what is up with bandwidth limits? someone help explain this to me.
recently my ISP started charging us for bandwidth. first way pay for DSL, and then we also pay for any extra bandwidth we go over. This is totally a new thing btw. Now we have 3 computers in the home. how are you NOT going to go over the bandwidth limit? :frusty:
so my dad called them up, and this is what they said increases bandwidth:
online games - ok no tetris? no bejewelled for me? for the love of God what am i supposed to do without these :crying:
youtube. youtube?!?!?! how in the world does the dramatic hamster increase bandwidth?
picture upload/download and/or big email attachments - ok so like what? i can’t share pictures anymore? i can’t upload them on my chehra kitaab? i can’t look at RKS? i can’t upload pictures to walmart’s photolab to get them printed? and max email attachments are 20 mb!!! :smack:
so yeah. i looked up this other DSL provider and they have a bandwidth limit too :pcg:
Most ISP providers have a bandwidth limit, for what i pay, my limit is 40GB a month, if i exceed that i have to pay additional for every MB above the allocated 40GB i have agreed to.
ISP have recently started to do that because some people are bandwidth hungry (P2P Sharing, Torrents, etc..etc..) so Bandwidth limits and/or Throttling makes it almost impossible to share huge number of files.
I have DSL, i can’t even recall how many times i must’ve downloaded files well over 5-6-7 even 8GB. I don’t recall being over-charged.
something to ponder over…maybe i’ll call my provider and find out more
…in short, your ISP wants your business; thus they may already be aware that your a heavy user and are being good samaritans by keeping you happy. :halo:
Even if ya are allowed Unlimited downloads . Ideal for downloading movies, video clips, music and enjoying online gaming. There is a thing called Fair usage policy :D
Absolutely! The only difference now is that they’ve started to force it by means of limitations. Because they don’t want some to have more than their fair share of the d/l while other mild users suffer due to the bottleneck situation.
I’m pretty fair though…i upload as much as i download
