What suits a round face and broad shoulders

Hey

I’ve got a round/full face and broad shoulders but am otherwise slim (size 10 uk), the problem is that in pictures I can look huge paticularly if its a headshot because of my broad shoulders.

So what would you recommend I wear to prevent this, what kind of neckline?

Is there anything I can do (either with make up, or exercise, or any tricks) to help make my face look more slender?

I’m getting married in a few months and am concerned I’ll look twice the size I am.

trust me i have the same problem as long as people that are taller than you and take your pic aiming downward you'll be fine. with weddings you are always on a stage though and sometimes that lower angle up to your face or if a short friend takes a pic of you it shows off how round your face is.

Also layers work wonder but i don't want such short layers to frame my face because my hair is quite long and it would look kinda strange to have short layers outta no where. if i were you i'd try to get layers or go for a hairstyle with major volume to balance your face. (somehow volume always makes a face look smaller).

Contouring the face can be done with using a powder that is two shades darker than your skin tone. Use it along the sides of your face and your jawline to help create a shadow that makes it look angled and toned. you can also use that on the sides of your nose if you feel it's too wide. as for broad shoulders, v necks works wonders. You know have to wear a v neck and show cleavage just wear a tank underneath. if you plan on having your wedding dress made keep the v design in mind. also be careful how they place the dupatta on your head as this can add to your shoulders looking heavier than they really are.

Good posture is important (shoulders back head up) and when you take pictures try to elongate your neck. think swan like because if you tilt your head down chances are your face will look more round. Also i tend to try not to take a full frontal pic just bc i think my face is too round and my nose too wide. when you turn your head a bit (not much) and look at the camera it doesn't look so bad.

hope that helped!

Re: What suits a round face and broad shoulders

That's fantastic SWH, thanks so much.

Whatever, I know what you mean my upper body make me look much bigger than my cousin who's petite but has just given birth!

Moustache!!

^ it's my firm believe that a Moustache does not suit ANYBODY!

Re: What suits a round face and broad shoulders

I can prove you wrong.

TL plz stop waxing upperlip for a few days.

TL, forward layers frame the face really well.. and draw attention away from the "roundness" of the face. Soft-curls however highlight a round-face and make it appear rounder! Forward layers..with a side-parting would work as well :)

U can try u're hand at contouring using a bronzer that's 2 shades darker than u're skintone..and apply it to the "hollows" of u're cheeks blending it upwards towards the temples...apply some under u're jawline as well.

A "V" neck works for people with broad shoulders.. and so does a "sweetheart" and "keyhole" gala. Stay clear from round gala's though!

Congratulations on the upcoming wedding!!!!!!!! :)

Sooooooooooooooo true! I dnt have broad shoulders but I DO have a little extra - if you know what I mean - and a V Neck is a blessing! It minimizes things. Sailor necks, boat necks, round necks and neck lines that are too close to your face are not for you. V necks, square necks, sculpted necks are meant for you!

I dont know about face contouring or whatnot because I have an oval face.

For haircuts, Ive noticed a middle part actually lengthens my face. A side part makes my face look rounder. I do the side part when I want my face to appear fuller. Lots of layers around your face help and keeping your hair long is a good idea. Short hair automatically makes your face rounder and curls like Gina said...

Re: What suits a round face and broad shoulders

Thanks Bobnbon. Ok So I will definatatley opt for a more pointed V neck than a round neck.

I do already have layers so at least I've got that bit right :). I'll practice with shading and let you all know how I get on.

^Get short choppy layers around u're face.. it'll look nice :)
