Re: What subject fascinate you the most

from memory it makes women the central feature and talks about their experiences -such as the women who committed suicide, abductions of women, how their own families killed them and how they faced shame and humiliation when they returned to their communities. It also talked about how after partition, many women who were mainly in domestic arena, were forced to work and become economically sufficient to earn and supplement family incomes. How women survived in the relocation process. From memory it covers women of different religions..but i think stories were about Muslim/Sikh/Hindu women in what was India post partition.

Re: What subject fascinate you the most

I mostly read books written by academics and researchers, or books published by academic publishing houses.

Re: What subject fascinate you the most

Need to read more.

Re: What subject fascinate you the most

I'm also fascinated with self help books or anything psychological. I like motivational books as well.
I'm also into cricket biographies. I've read Richie Beneaud and Steve Waugh's one. Also like anything Bollywood/cinema related.

Re: What subject fascinate you the most

have you read Dilip Kumar's biography?

Re: What subject fascinate you the most

nope not read it yet. is it good? does he talk about his life in Peshawar

Re: What subject fascinate you the most

I read a lot of non-fiction books.
One of my favourite authors is Rohinton Mistry - he touches on a lot of topics in Indian society and his books are so strong that I've often shed a tear reading them. His books deal with family, political corruption and how that affects everyday people in India and other controversial topics like the caste system, racism, etc.

My all time favourite book by him is A Fine Balance, it's quite a long book but definately one I could never put down.
I also love Khaled Hosseini's novels as well. He writes particularly in the same type of style - his novels mostly centre on life in Afghanistan and talk about the life during different time periods.

Besides serious novels - I love reading funny, comical books that can just put you in a great mood. I love reading Sophia Kinsella books. I've pretty much read all of hers as well and they are a great and funny read always.

Re: What subject fascinate you the most

I think Raja Gidh is a good Urdu book for self-recognition. Ashfaq Ahmed's Zaviya (though not fiction) also tells about our roots.

Re: What subject fascinate you the most

I prefer fiction.

Re: What subject fascinate you the most

I love cozy mysteries, historical fiction, and classics.

In a bookstore, I tend to go to children and middle-graders section first and then history. I love reading middle-graders books as well.

I would never forget reading Lord of the Flies...that book gave me nightmares.
