What Specific Hair Color Shade to buy to Get Brown Color Hair?

I have dark black hair…I wanna dye it lmedium light brown (not too light) like the picture…however whenever i buy brown hair dye…it still makes my dark hair look dark…

I understand that i need to buy a really light color to get noticeable brown hair…but which one? i also don’t wanna end up with reddish/orangish hair

I’m so sick of guessing what hair shade to buy and wasting my money…and oh yeah i can’t afford professional dying.

what store hair dye brand and specific shade would you recommend to achieve noticeable brown hair like preity zinta in this picture? thanks!!!

Um I love this question and would like to know the same. I hope the answer doesn't require you bleaching your hair blonde.

I had jet black hair. I started bleaching them on my own and then had highlights. Later I put mehndi on my hair which had tea and coffee in it too. Then I started dying me hair. Now they are red colour but when the colour fades, it doesn't go to black. It goes to dark brown.

yikes that doesn't sound too good

Re: What Specific Hair Color Shade to buy to Get Brown Color Hair?

yeah i really don't wanna bleach my hair....that would be horrible...plus too much damage to hair

Re: What Specific Hair Color Shade to buy to Get Brown Color Hair?

I dunno, my hair didn't get damaged at all. They are longer than ever, and silkier than ever too. Plus now the burgundy colour looks awesome. :) However bleaching might not suit everyone. Black is a dark colour and to lighten the hair strands you have to bleach the hair to remove the black pigment otherwise if you apply some dye it won't give proper results. U bleach to remove black in a way and then apply some other lighter colour. That's what I did.

Not everyone with dark hair has to bleach the hair to get it lighter. I have dark brown hair that is light in the sun and my hair dyes to lighter shades very easily without bleaching it first. At the moment I have my hair as my natural colour and much prefer it this way, but when I was younger I did dye my hair a few times. One that always got compliments was a Clairol nice 'n' easy shade (which is now discontinued) I even had a friends mum ask me what colour I had used as she liked it so much lol.

Do you reccomend any specific shade?

Re: What Specific Hair Color Shade to buy to Get Brown Color Hair?

I use Keune 5.3 dark brown....nice shade

Re: What Specific Hair Color Shade to buy to Get Brown Color Hair?

I can't recommend a shade I'm afraid as the shade I used is now discontinued. Maybe the closest to it would be the 117? Have a look around and see what shade you think will give you the desired result you're after. Remember to look at the back of the box as it will give you an indication of the end result you will achieve based on your natural hair colour.

Re: What Specific Hair Color Shade to buy to Get Brown Color Hair?

I have used Loreal Feria's shades.... from browns to reds .... they all cover my black hair easily. Never had issues.

If you have virgin hair (never dyed before), you will not have issues.... pick any medium brown shade and give it a try, best thing about Feria is that it has built-in highlights, so you'll get shiny results :)

Re: What Specific Hair Color Shade to buy to Get Brown Color Hair?

my dear the bleach concentration or damage is lies in the develper you use ,kindly use 10 vol (3%) or low i am using 1.6% 5 vol for such hairs in my salon and no complains ever came across.secondly if you use bleach kindly dont apply on your roots leave at least 2 inches from root then apply it .apply it for 10 minutes only and then wash out your hair if you are using wella perfect than its 7.7 shade ,in keune its 6.3, in lakme it is 6/13 , in shwarzkopff igora its 6/00.after washing your hair kindly apply colour first to your roots for 20 minutes than after 20 minutes to over all length and leave it there for 25 minutes (in total 45 minutes) ,your roots will get the desired shade without bleach , while for length you have to do this once.at the end kindly apply a nice treatment or conditioner to seal in colour and cuticle.hope this will help.

What Aisha said.. tho there are some ppl who have very porous hair that will lighten or 'grip' colour more easily.. often those who have messed around with their hair already or it has been weakened in some other way..

Btw, it is still possible to have healthy hair that's been bleached as long as ur careful and give it lots of tlc :)
