What so sunnis say about hazrat ibraheem!

Prophet abraham (peace be upon him) did “shirk” three times
( ma’aalumul tanzeel, under surah inaam, verse 77)

So be on watch for a day when heaven shall bring a manifest smoke
covering the people; this is a painful chastisement. ‘O our lord remove thou from us, the chastisement; we are believers.’ How should they have the reminder? seeing a clear Messenger has already come to them, then they turned away from him, and said,’ A man, tutored, possessed!"
( the koran, verse 11-14, chapter 44, Smoke, the nuclear explosion.)

Those who call themselves Sunni Muslims, take the words of the Quran over the Hadith. The Quran is clear on the beliefs of Abraham, he was a monotheist. Sunni Muslims believe he was a follower of Islam:

"When his Lord said unto [Abraham]: Surrender! he said: ** I have surrendered to the Lord and Cherisher of the Universe ** . The same did Abraham enjoin upon his sons, and also Jacob, (saying): O my sons! Lo! Allah hath chosen for you the (true) religion; therefore ** die not save as men who have surrendered in a state of submission (unto Him) ** . Or were ye present when death came to Jacob, when he said unto his sons: What will ye worship after me ? They said: We shall worship thy God, the God of thy fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac, ** One God, and unto Him we have surrendered ** ." (2:130-133)

** "Abraham was not a Jew, nor yet a Christian; but he was an upright man who had surrendered (to Allah), and he was not of the idolaters." ** (3:67)

"(Remember) when Abraham said unto his father Azar: Takest thou idols for gods ? Lo! I see thee and thy folk in error manifest." (6:74)

"And when Abraham said: My Lord! Make safe this territory, and preserve me and my sons from serving idols." (14:35)

There are countless quotes from the Quran supporting Abrahams monotheism. The Quran takes precedence over any Hadith or scholarly interpretation. It doesn't appear, from the Qur'an that there is any evidence to indicate that Abraham ever committed shirk. The case is in fact quite the opposite.

Achtung ;)
