What should I do?

Did you give him the phone (kind of like a gift)? Or did you just let the person borrow it for a while? If you gave it to the person as a gift, then it belongs to him/her, and you’d have no control over what he would do with it. I know that some people return gifts after a relationship has ended…but not everyone has this mentality. There are people who think that “What’s given as a gift should not be demanded back.”

On the other hand…if you gave the phone to him/her to borrow…and he/she sold it without your knowledge…that’s a pretty **LOW/CHEAP **thing to do. And I can understand that you’re upset. And people do eventually get what they deserve.

You said that h/she SOLD it and that there’s no way of getting it back. So…you know that you have to move on, Rasmalai. Think to yourself that it is benefiting someone who needed it. And besides, how would you get it back from the stranger who is currently using it? Will you pay them more than they paid for it?

Are you sure that the ONLY reason you want the phone back is because you liked it so much? OR…do you think that there’s another underlying reason behind this? For example…do you harbor a grudge toward the person…and want the phone back because you view his selling of the phone as an attack?

As unfortunate as this incident is…you learned a valuable lesson from it. You learned to be careful about whom you should trust. It takes many people many many years to learn this. In a way…the lesson you learned…has contributed more toward your development as a person than the possession of your phone.

I know it’s easier said than done, but move forward. Don’t look back. We waste so much of our present time and energy by dwelling on past hurts…thus making our already short life even shorter (I’m guilty of it as well).

Buy yourself a new and MUCH BETTER phone…because you’re a stronger/better person now. Look at it this way.
