you're in toronto right? what area of toronto? the suburbs are usually filled with desis, so even if you do join the classes or whatever, chances are there are usually more desis there than non-desis. your local community center must have some programs of some sorts, where you can go to meet people. also go to your local masjid, and talk to some of the people there. it's a great place to meet people who are not only of your cultural background, but also religion, so that aspect of religion isn't big of a concern either. i know pretty much all the masjids in GTA have iftar programs, and they hold jumas, and have dars classes or whatever, so more oppurtunities for you.
