Re: what should i cook for my 7 month old baby?
i never cooked separtely for my baby, till 9 months she was having mashed fruits, cereals and oats. after 9 months i was giving whatever we were eating but i cook food wth very less spices.
Re: what should i cook for my 7 month old baby?
Are you following a certain weaning programme such as baby led weaning? When our little one was 7 months old she had meals like jacket potatoes with beans mashed up. Or daal mashed with rice. Of course we wouldn’t add many spices or salt to the food she had.
Baby led weaning is also good. My friend used that and her daughter ate things like roast chicken, potatoes and carrots for dinner. So cute seeing a little face enjoying a roast dinner.
Everything
What i meant is the more variety you introduce..the better his taste buds will develop…and you wont have issues like kid doesnt like anything. Mash up anything you eat… If it isnt spicy ofcourse
Re: what should i cook for my 7 month old baby?
my baby was eating pretty much what we ate when he was 6.5 months. I always had boiled potatoes and carrots at hand, I have an avocado. Simply mash different vegetables, season them lightly, and there you have baby food. I mash up his food everyday. At 7 months, i added chicken and lamb to his mash.

Is baby led weaning not big amongst the desi parents then? Just wondering.
Re: what should i cook for my 7 month old baby?
Nice thread…I would also like to read all these replies…My baby just turned 4 months…and I was told to start him on veges, meat, and fruits…coz he is becoming a bit fussy with his milk…I didn’t know you started babies on solids so early…am a bit scared…
Re: what should i cook for my 7 month old baby?
at 4 months, I would just slowly introduce vegetables and fruits. However, milk is still the main source of nutrients till 1 year. He might be teething, hence fussy with milk.

Do you have Health Visitors (similar) in Canada? Just asking as HV in the UK give out individual advice in regards on when to start weaning. If a child is healthy they usually advise you start with baby rice (with milk) and bananas. This is usually between 5/6 months. If a child has medical problems or a baby doesn’t drink as much milk as would be advised at their age they often send you to the Dietry team who advise you start with simple baby rice or rusks and milk from 4 months.
You may find at 4 months your little one doesn’t take to food; it’s a bit hit and miss.
Meats are often the last thing to be introduced during weaning.
The top ones for the UK are usually:
baby rice/rusk & milk
Yogurts that are free from additives and added sugars
mashed banana
carrots, parsnips & other root veg as a puree
cauliflower & brocoli puree
sweet potatoes
And as your child gets used to purees we introduce:
roast chicken and potato puree
lentil purees
minced meat and potato puree
pasta with mince meat (spag bol)
Things like Beef are at the bottom of the list. Usually because of a child’s digestive system not being fully developed to cope with such items.
Finger foods such as roti can be introduced when your child can bite and chew. We introduced roti at 6 months.
HTH.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
never thought of that…thank you!!!
Lusi & Princess1983,
Thank you so much for all this info…really helps!!! ![]()
I was thinking to introduce meat as the last thing too…I think am going to make vege puree and fruit puree for him for now…anyways am gonna wait for mom…am seeing her in a few days…
We do have nurses who come, but the thing is am moving to a new province in a few days…and I was thinking of baby cereal too, I mean if veges are ok, then I don’t see why I can’t give him cereal…and I guess it is ok to give the cereal with the milk that we drink?
Thank you so much once again!!!
Re: what should i cook for my 7 month old baby?
Make sure you introduce one thing at a time. My son wasn’t very keen on solids at 4 months, we had them off and on, however around 6 months, he got more interested and started having them regularly. We started with avocado. He likes it and it is good for babies. My little one doesn’t like cereal, so don’t be surprised if yours doesn’t.
You give baby cereal with breast or formula milk.

^oh..am glad you told me about the milk!!!
Re: what should i cook for my 7 month old baby?
Here’s the info we get given in the UK by the Government on Weaning. Of course stuff like parent led weaning isn’t on their agenda; but still here’s the info if you need it:
Your baby’s first solid foods - Pregnancy and baby guide - NHS Choices
