I have the Damier Azur Speedy 30 and I heart it to death. I got a matching accessories organizer and it keeps its shape nicely. I don't use it often as the color is light and attracts dirt, so that may be one thing to keep in mind.
I think an LV is a wise investment as your first designer bag. The damier collection is one of my favorites but Epi leather is very nice as well. Which bag do you like from the collection? And do you like the traditonal damier or the damier azur?
Also, do you want leather or canvas (keep in mind that leather is costlier)? Another question to ask yourself is whether you like the monogram to be highly visible or not (most designers have a monogram or motif that is easily identifiable, think Chanel's CC or Burberry's Nova Check). Finally, are you looking for a shoulder bag, evening bag, hobo, everyday bag, etc?
This should help us get started.
How exciting, handbags are my weakness!
Re: what should be your first designer handbag be?
Dior
My ‘first’ was a gold Fendi baguette I saw in ‘Sex and the City’ years ago but am much more of a Chanel gal nowadays.
I looked for the oversized Coco Cabas xl in satin from ages ago to use as a super glam carry-on luggage bag but could never find it. I bought the huge denim version even tho I didn’t really like it so if anyone thinks they can ‘replace’ the denim with black satin on this bag and turn pic 1 into pic 2 somehow pls pm me. I know it’s a bit drastic but I’m v.picky about what I want and I have literally searched everywhere for this bag ![]()

Re: what should be your first designer handbag be?
Jimmy Choo…i just got one for my birthday and i’m in love with it:jano:
Re: what should be your first designer handbag be?
Lovely bag. I am crazy about the Cabas! I don't necessarily think a Chanel is a good starter bag though. You need something to work up to, yanno ;-)?
Choo bags have lovely leather. I'm sure you love your bag too sheyn.
Re: what should be your first designer handbag be?
LV all the wayyyyy cause its always going to be in fashion, such vintage designs! I got my mono canvas speedy 35 for my 18th and i LOVE IT. Next on the wish list is this vivienne westwood handbag.
anything with mongrams is a no no for me .I dont like monogram bags .
would love to have Birkin or Bottega venta (specially their clutchs) if I can afford it.
I like chanel flap bags too , so classic .
I’d love a bright pink ostrich Birkin like Victoria Beckham’s. It would be my ‘Barbie’ bag :jano: In my dreams…
Ohh, Birkin…take me now…
Yeah, ur right, Chanel prob isn’t right as a ‘first.’ I think most people get Coach or a LV speedy…
Does this forum have a ‘what’s in ur handbag’ type thread? Like this:
What’s inside your LV? - Page 10 - The Purse Forum
I love checking out what people carry around with them all day lol ![]()
Hermés!! I have 3 Birkins:
Birkin Ostrich in Tan
Birkin Classic in Black
Birkin Crocodile in Red
I only use the Black one occasionally (the MIL gave me this one), the other two i would not dare to take out of my closet… the hubby gets mad that he paid so much for these two but i don’t use them… but i can’t they’re too precious!!! :jano:
Re: what should be your first designer handbag be?
I've never seen Coach in the UK... i know it is in terminal 5 in Heathrow aiport though!...but it seems to be pretty popular over the pond...
I don't think you can go wrong with a classic LV. The monogram Canvas ones are pretty good, and also the Mahina and Surya..
i wouldn't recommend logo bags because no matter how expensive they are, they can look tacky.
mui mui and chloe make some beautiful bags, and a classic quilted chanel with gold chain straps never goes out of style.
take a look at the bag section on net-a-porter.com for ideas!
three birkins! i’d have to save up for a lifetime just to get one!
omg its bloody awesome…where did u gt it from chegum :D?![]()
