I think our parents shape us first and foremost. Our experiences that we encounter, friends that may come and go, mistakes we make along the way, all of this combined make us who we are today.

Well to sum it up pretty much things like for example:

....taking chances, making mistakes, raging for the eccentric passion of survival or love if deemed indispensible, living fully the richness of our emotions, the poverty of one's soul lacking experience....the agony which nourishes the valour within and obviously failures are a must to exercise being valiant while at it as the saying goes....

we are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future

I think everything is important and plays a significant role in one's personality..
But however, I wont place education at a higher place.. Some people never get educated and sometimes you hear words of wisdom from a begger...
