Read 'Curfewed Night' By Basharat Peer. Its an honest account on wots happening in Kashmir. It deals with humans be it Muslim or Hindus.
Re: What really goes on in Kashmir
shortdog - the latest news on Kashmir is that Musharaf took the message he was given about not meddling in India (during his video taped trip) and passed it on to current leadership in Pakistan.
Tourism has picked up and the new state government is I am sure making good money for all ministers and MLAs (as all state governments of India do!)
how are things in Baluchistan?
This came from an Indian Newspaper/Website
***“In Kashmir, the state machinery has been either a passive witness or has been resisting such gross violation of human rights and it has been the Indian Army and the Central Reserve Police Force that has been trigger happy, leaving behind a trail of corpses of innocent Kashmiri young men and protesters.”
WSN-Editorial-India must walk the talk in J-K
There ain’t NO HOPE for Non Hindu Kashmiris…seems like!..![]()
Re: What really goes on in Kashmir
^ Correction - this is not an Indian Newspaper/Website. It has very clear Khalistan leanings :)
Need I say more about the content ;)

Human Rights Watch would be a good place to start. A good book would be "Kashmir Paradise Lost" by Martin Sugarman.

These days HRW is busy with the active conflict zones in Asia ... Afghnaistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan etc .....
As for Kashmir they haven't had much to write this year....
As for Sugarman .... it is past history ..... today the ground realities have changed ...
This mickey mouse website is set up groups who were “active” in Indian Punjab long time back … they were kicked out and now they can only spew venom sitting in US …

Don’t waste your time going to such websites …
Enjoy 2008 report, 2009 will be out in 2010… Must be written by Shri ISI walla.
India: Hold Abusers in Kashmir Accountable | Human Rights Watch
Human Rights Watch called for an independent, transparent, and time-bound commission to investigate allegations of enforced disappearances.%between%
Well Mr.Kehkashan and Mr.Hollowman(RAW Ambassadors)!
It is also quite clear to all of the world that what a hell India is doing in the occupied JAMMU AND KASHMIR!
And as kehkashan said that there are injustices with muslims and nonmuslims in Pakistan then what will you both say about indian terrorism in kashmir and the Gujrat inccident which martyred 2000 muslims and what about the christians living in india who are attacked and mistreated by these indians themselves?
what about the babri masjid incident? ehh?
what about the hindu extremist organizations RSS and Veshwa Hindu Pareshad?
and what about the mistreating with the poor sikhs in india?
ehh?
what about the brahman, khashtri, vesh and shudar segementation which is a totally against the human rights and human equality. ehh?
and what about the injustices with women there in india who are forced to Satti. ehh?
what about all these?
Is this you call “Humanity and giving human rights”?
Shame on you!

^ what you said has nothing to do with Pakistan its an internal matter of India, but cancer spreading from Pakistan affecting people all over the globe at the speed of lightning.

IOK is not an internal matter of India, its a disputed territory... India has cancers all over the place, let doctor operate like surgeon shri british did at one time.

Right now the world attention is "focussed" on Pakistan - Afghanistan ..... they are trying to "cure" this region ......
Kashmir is fast moving towards normalcy, so you don't worry about that .... as for HRW, they have bigger problems to handle in Pakistan, Afghanistan , Sri Lanka ......though it is nice of them to speak directly to the "democratically" elected Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir or was it IOK :D!!!!

Hindustan has been normal since inception jut put ab before normal... Dil ko tasli denay ka khaial acha haey Ghalib... :)
India has had it’s share of troubles since inception … but it has been able to sort them out as it belives in involving the local population in solutions …
That is why inspite of active support for sepratist groups in different parts of the country … it has not seen actual seperation of any part ..
Anyway coming back to Kashmir … think the new administration in US has realized that there are elements within Pakistan establishment who want to push US into the “Kashmir” quagmire … the recent actions along the line of control are an indication of that. These elements want to increase the emotions so that focus is shifted from the actual trouble areas of Pak - Afghan border …
Ah! I should have known better, beat around the bush as usual.
