Well I am unable to understand what our education system producing? Do they want well qualified mechanics and technicians?
well i saw a lot of students void of any world view, even apprehensive of having a one… whereas there were times when great learned people with vision had just M.A or M.Sc. (Master in Arts/Science)
So i want your input to this issue, where the flaw is and what are the possible remedies…

Brother I wanted to say that apart from technical knowledge (e.g. operating and designing tools, etc) there are other aspect of life as well. Life in its own right is a phenomenon. Universities (esp. regarding science and engineering departments) act like a factory where they just produce products rather well aware human beings… people get big degrees but they are not well aware of their surroundings, their world view is not broad, they don’t understand the true essence of life, and implications of not knowing it… .
What I think philosophical, spiritual and human development matters are not under any consideration of these universities (or departments), they only produce tools to operate more tools, that’s it. Please tell me where human beings are produced…

The whole system seems to be one set of exams after the other. Just look at the O level exams. For a lot of students, last year becomes going from one tutor to another, and memorizing as much as possible.

That's why I want my kids to study Social Sciences and Natural History instead of just becoming Doctors and Engineers.

thats not a fair assessment. even with out limited system we have an above average representation in engineering, medicine and accountancy. natural history and liberal arts has its utility, but lets not discount the whole system just cause we have a few pet specializations.

Hey i had an e-mail or guess it was a cartoon pic in some Pak local news paper, where they had shown a hut , and SCHOOL was written on it in bold letters. The boys were entering to the school thru one enterance, and from the exit door, the donkeys were coming out... lol - so thats what our education system is producing :D
