What Options do Palestinians Have?

How can they realise a state for themselves? Plz mention the way that has NOT been followed previously.

NOTE: You don’t start a thread to discuss by addressing only a few guppy, you can start a thread and then send a PM to the guppies you are interested in the views of.

First ppl like PCG or Burqa have to think themselves living inside Palestine with all their loved ones on the mercy of Tyrrant, Opressor Israel. Now give the answer of the question asked.....

State? for whom? For Gaza they already had the state. And that state was used to do rocket bazi on Israel.

This is nothing new.

Back in 67, Palestinians and Arabs had the whole West Bank, Golan hights, and Sinai desert and Gaza.

Based on Soviet money and weapons, and Arab-nationalism's swagger, they felt that they can just do some halla gullah and capture Israel.

The end result of they lost a lot of that area.

Lesson #1, when you have your state, do not use it to pin-prick a powerful neighbor, because you might lose what you have.

Not many Arabs learned lesson #1, so guess what happened. Time for lesson #2.

More area lost.

Lesson #2, if you attacked your neighbor and lost a lot of your area, then do not make the same mistakes again.

Egypt's Sadat learned his lesson #2 but Islamic brotherhood didn't.

Lesson #3 - If you have learned your lesson #2, and not careful about Islamic brotherhood, you would likely lose your own life.

It was too late for Sadat, but Hosni learned the lesson.

Fast forward to 2008. Every Arab leader including Nasrullah have leanred their own lessons, accept Hammas.

So let's see if there will be another lesson or not. Only time will tell.

Re: What Options do Palestinians Have?

The barbarians and their supporters here can wish what they want to. But unfortunately for them, Hamas is only getting stronger.
These enemies of Islam hate the resistance to Zionist terrorist state.

Hamas gaining sympathy as onslaught continues

“There are widespread feelings among Palestinians that the PA is quite satisfied with what is happening in Gaza . And undoubtedly this is going to seriously undermine the image of Palestinian leadership,” opined Abdul Sattar Qassem, Professor of political Science at the Najah National University in Nablus .

Qassem predicted that the current Israeli campaign would actually lead to the boosting of Hamas’s popularity.

Yes, Just like Hizbullah got stronger that Nasrallah now can walk around openly. And he rules Lebanon now.

And why just Hizbullah, every militant option got stronger with time. Some of the examples are:

Militants of PLO,
Militants of Syria,
Militants of Egypt

and the list goes on and on.

p.s. these examples clearly show that militant option has not worked so far. May be in future. who knows.

:rotfl:

Your examples are pathetic because Hezbollah is a different creature than any militant organization.

Hezbollah controls Lebanon because it has 80% of the electorate. That’s right burqa, the majority of Lebanon is jihadis, including all of my friends from Beirut.

Re: What Options do Palestinians Have?

All Palestinians need to do is withdraw support of hamas or anyother group that sends rockets into Israel or otherwise attack them. All principles aside, is it even common sense to take on Israel like that, knowing retribution will be swift and very detrimental to Palestinians?

Israelis are going too far I think - looking at all those children affected is horrible - which makes me wonder what exactly Israelis are after. I think they have some intelligence about more nasty stuff than mere rocket fire.

Rocket fire or not; Hamas or not; Israel mission was to keep Gaza blockaded, to starve its civilians. Even if Hamas was gone (which is nearly impossible) Israel still would have gone on its campaign of starving Palestinians since genocide is their state policy.

Re: What Options do Palestinians Have?

I am just guessing - there doesn't seem to be any point in Israel going to this extent, beating a dead horse again and again. That is why I am beginning to wonder if they aren't after something very specific this time - something has spooked them real intense

Sorry man but seriously one can count on our “neighbours” to come up with stuff out of their left pockets. :smack:

Please elaborate and also provide me some sources with 80% of electorate. Can you also shed some light on buffer zone what is that doing in so-called Hezbollah territory

Re: What Options do Palestinians Have?

Guys lets have a serious discussion rather than name calling.

BurqaP and South Indian

1-Look at west Bank, its not controlled by Hamas, but yet they do not have a soveriegn state. The settlements are expanding everyday. Israel controls the airspace, water and trade.
2- During the first Intefada there were no rockets or miltancy, it was just Palestinian youth throwing stones at Israeli tanks. What did it bring to Palestinians? Didthe world get them anything semblance of a state?

How can they get a viable state?

To me it looks like Palestinians have only 2 options, either a slow strangulation of small areas they have with evetual expansion of settlements into the whole west bank and Gaza or a fast death by uprising against Israel.

Re: What Options do Palestinians Have?

^^ Yes eventually it will happened !

See you are being judge, jury and prosecutor at the same time.

W. Bank is going through transitional autonomy where institutions are slowly being put in place. This is mainly Palestinian's job to respect those institutions and obey the law regardless of what some Israelis may be doing.

Police, courts, business rules are not easy to setup. Sure there are some settlements that are expanding. However Israeli military had taken action in some of those cases.

What Palestinians need is a 10 years of Sulah Hudabia and you will see Palestinian state.

If you think 10 years are too long, then bro you are not familiar with nation building.

Re: What Options do Palestinians Have?

a 1,000 dead... will make 10,000 of their friends and family 'terrorists'. This is the only option.

Re: What Options do Palestinians Have?

"I could have annihilated all the Jews in the world, but I left some of them so you will know why I was killing them"** -- Adolf Hitler

**This quote tells everything :)

A survey was done by a university in Beirut, stating that 87% of Lebanon supported Hezbollah. This was during the 2006 war with Israel. Since then Hezbollah has a large say in the government and the new parliamentary elections later in 2009 with the implications of the Doha Agreement will also prove to Hezbollah’s gaining popularity in Lebanon.

Re: What Options do Palestinians Have?

Shamir Vote Plan: Closing the Palestinian Options - New York Times

…But even if all the hard-line statements made thus far turn out to be no more than opening positions in advance of difficult bargaining, on the most critical point it seems highly unlikely that Mr. Shamir will yield. Are ‘All Options’ Open? The Palestinians chosen in the elections are to negotiate with Israel over the territories’ final status, and in those negotiations ‘‘all options are open,’’ Mr. Shamir has said again and again. But the truth is, all options are open except the one that virtually all Palestinians who express a political opinion say they must have.
Before peace talks, Mr. Ben-Aharon said, Israel will tell the Palestinian negotiating delegation that ‘‘there is one option we won’t countenance; the one thing we will insist on preventing is a Palestinan state.’’

Now i will hope that you give a serious reply and not AaeeN BaeeN SHaeeN

Al Jazeera English - Middle East - UN debates West Bank settlements

1- Settlements in West Bank are diving west bank into four cantons, thereby making it very difficult for a Palestinian state to materialize.
(Mahmoud Abbas)
2- Daily attacks on Palestinians civilians by settlers (Mahmoud Abbas)
3-Settlemnt expansion has doubled since 2007 (Peace Now, Israeli watchdog)

Re: What Options do Palestinians Have?

the only option palestinians have this very minute is hope. although nothing seems good at the moment, the weakness of their enemy (cowardice) is cause for optimism.

when the entire population of israel is brought under the focus of a lethal weapon, israel will negotiate. yet this scenario is not what muslims should be aiming for, muslims should aim to complete the deed. only then will palestinians get full respect of an equal people

there is a range of weapons whose proliferation would suit this purpose. weaponisation is the answer

unfortunately, the israelli nation is too treacherous for anything else to work
