I'll start.. we had our nikah in 2005 and my hubby was in pakistan and my inlaws were in U.S so for the 2 years that they were here without their son I use to get them presents for every mothers day, fathers day and other occassions.. they missed their son quiet a lot so when I use to do little small gestures for them they felt very happy and didn't miss home to much :)..

i invited my MIL and FIL over to open their fast with me and hubby, during my 1st year of marriage, and MIL brought all my SIL and kids aswell.

I made a variety of food but everyone ate in complete silence, and i mean no one uttered a word for an hour. they pushed the food around their plates. I was very hurt, feel hurt thinkin about it now. when i offered my SIL some lamb chops, she make a disgust face, like i cant eat that.

i made a variation of desserts aswell but last minute didnt bother serving them. i wanted to run upstairs and cry.

I married their son. alright j/k but I don't think I have done anything nice for them in particular.. I dun nag their son, I dun interfere in son-parents matter, I dun expect anything from them just so I dun develop issues with them..i think it's nice enough?

I tried my best to do everything how my in laws like when they were visiting me. I tried but it wasn't easy. They appreicate it though. I cooked them things I cook well so they could try it.
I take care of my in laws immigration processing and everything since my husband doesn't have time.
I told my mom to not visit me (haven't seen my family in over a year) so that my SIL can visit me .. this is a hard one but oh well.
They've done more for me than I've done for them.

that's really sad. any particular reason they behave like this? or r they just really weird, weird people.

well...depends on every individual but i guess u dnt really have a relationship with them..its just that ok they r yr husband's parents so let them be. Staying away from relationships dont help not develop issues. Just my two cents.

Not enough.. I care for them from the heart.. they feel that love and want me and DH to be happy..

Before we even got married, I would buy them all little gifts for his family

FIL loves nescafe.. So I always take a huge jar with me when I go
MIL has dry skin on hands so I take aqueous cream with me for her
I call them atleast once a week and speak to all the siblings..

i do quite well for my inalws as my mil and fil gonna come back from pakistan this sunday, i have to make a daawat of about 60 people ,clean their rooms make sure every thing they need is available including their medicines, and then after that in normal routine take them to doctor ,make them food on their exact timings give them medicines in their hands and to deal with lot of guests gonna come to meet them and so on......urgh...and still they think sheher (city) ki lerkian achi nahi hoti...:(

Hmmmm, well i bought my SIL a suit and something for my BIL too, when i was there, i took them shopping.

I call my MIL weekly, well hubby does, i just dial the numbers and say hello fiorst and talk for bit then pass the phone.

to be honest, i do think im not doing it all from the heart, nothing wrong with them, they are nice enough, just dont feel too close or want to be either. i dnt have that abundance of affection for anyone really.lol.

and marrying their son, was probably all i could muster.

I'm not married yet, but engaged. However, for mothers day and fathers day, I send gifts that I know they will like. I am learning to cook things that my fiance likes (his mom is worried about his eating habits), but I told her not to worry, because I will take care of her son. She now tells my fiance that she is not worried about him, because she is assured that I will take good care of him. And by taking care of her son (favourite son!), I am doing something nice for her aswell!
