Flagyl is NOT a substitute to imodium. Flagyl is metronidazole i.e, an antibiotic. Imodium is loperamide which slows down intestinal hypermotility during diarhea. Imodium is NOT recommended in infectious diarhea which is actually quite common in pakistan. It is prescribed in severe watery diarhea but with an antibiotic or in cases of severe travellers diarhea. Better to take metronidazole with you too.
