What makes one set of folklore superior to other?

astrosfan

I hope you would'nt mind me bringing to your attention that

'Brahman' is a person belonging to the highest of the four castes of Hinduism.

'Brahma' is the ultimate God and Creator of the whole Universe.

This is where it gets confusing (obviously spelling sanskrit words in English is not an ideal situation) -

“Brahmin” - is a varna/caste. see the following http://www.hindunet.org/varna/

“Brahma” - is part of the creation-sustaining-destruction trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva; where Brahma is considered the Creation aspect, and is part of the Hindu mythology. See the following http://www.hindunet.org/god/trinity/brahma/index1.htm

“Brahman” - is the aspect that I have been describing as universal consciousness / ultimate reality. See the following http://www.hindunet.org/god/nirguna_brahman/index.htm

This is the way I have seen these terms spelled throughout pretty much all of my readings in the last 5 years.

But is god does not need creator and stand on its own, even world does not need creator and stand on its own. Thus we dont need god.**

Obviously Russell has a mind of a seven year old and it was a very valid question coming from a child his age. Now to use the logic of a seven year old is to put it mildly catastrophic.
Who created GOD? Well the answer is nobody. Why? Because time as we see it is relative. It was concocted by humans just as we use a box to store things inside. God (Allah) comes from the term infinity. If you really look into infinity you will realize the gravity of it. Billions of years, trillions maybe who knows. Look at the universe, it is ever expanding and is infinite i.e. it has no limit. We humans are jsut a small creation of the creator. Put us in the big scheme of things and we are negligible (another mathematics term) and can be ignored without any significant or even slight difference to the Universe. The scientists have so far confirmed 82 billion galaxies most of which are much greater than the milky way. This is the latest figure and still growing. So let us not get carried away and defy the presence of someone that is running the show.
You can believe in whatever you want but to think there is no GOD, ALLAH or BHAGWAN is totally absurd.
Regards

Given this situation, what is the chance that god will care about direction towards which humans pee, bother to send prophets to it, arrange entire day of judgement for this small species on insignificant planet and in general provide so much attention.

Ullu I don't care about your nick.
Your post is one of the wisest things I ever read

Ullu and rational brought up an interesting point.
Let us answer this question: WIll rest of the Universe(all galaxies, planets, hells and hevens etc) keep going as it does now if each and every human being from earth disappears today?

Answer will unequivocally will be yes, it will continue. God still exist and so will rest of the universe. So why the hell we humans think that the whole universe rotates aorund us and we are the only thinks for God to worry about?

Ullu

You are a very wise Ullu. I'm sure that God does'nt give a damn about in which direction we pee or pray.

Humans only pray because they want to relieve themselves of guilt or because of greed, such as after death going to heaven where God will reward them with a HOOR.

We are trying to explain things to people who do not believe in the existance of Allah(SWT). Its frustrating and scarey at the same time to see the way these people talk about Allah(SWT), absolutely no fear in their minds or hearts.
My only consolation is that death will reveal things to all of us and then it'll be too late for them(non-believers). Their view of death is whats depicted in movies, when in actuality, movies are just an act bringing out their own insecurities, misunderstanding and lies about death itself.

This is my last comment on this thread so take this with a grain of salt.

I agree with you zman. This is my last mail on this thread as well. The only thing I am convinced about now is that I cannot convince Ullu and company unless they want to convince themselves by really understanding the intrecacies associated with life and death and the religion itself.
Nevertheless it was fun to argue with you all. I hope some of you see the light some day.
take care

zman why should you fear God.He is not the ultimate gangster is he ?
I am really confused.Don't you define Allah as all merciful?
So what are you afraid of?

andhra its fear cause of the respect we carry in our hearts for Allah.. no doubt HE is all merciful but you dont go around dis respect just because u know that u r the loved one and will be forgiven !! do u ?? so when we fear Allah we respect and if u wont u will be disrespecting..

Don’t love everybody–specialize..

Don't you think you are confusing respect with fear.
Do you respect your parents or fear them ?
Don't you think the same applies to God?

Yes Andhra, the very same applies....so let's apply it shall we?

Zman:
"Its frustrating and scarey at the same time to see the way these people talk about Allah(SWT), absolutely no fear in their minds or hearts."

Yes,and that is why i felt its better to shut up and end the discussion because at some point i feel responsible for all the non-sense these people talk about God.
All this discussion so far makes me realise how true it is said in Quran that "As for those who have rejected,it is all the same to them whether you warn them or do not warn them:they are NOT going to believe.Allah has SEALED up their hearts and their ears and a covering has fallen over their eyes,...."

"He gives them rope enough and they wander on and on blindly in their mischief and rebellion...."
