what goes on,whats the life like, the issues, the thought process in pakistan??
they never lived here, they come here and stay for vacations and stuff…
they haven’t met and lived among pakistanis
but they seem to be experts on everything related…how is it so??
Just because you have some relatives living in pakistan…you really think you know everything??
i don’t see many pakistani posters acting like super experts on everything that goes on in those countries…

Well many of the Pakistani posters have never been to US/ UK. But Most of the ABCD's around here have gone back to Pakistan at some point.
That said, I don't think people want to come off as experts, rather just comparing what they see in the West and the East.
I agree you won't know everything about Pakistan in your 3 week visit, but you can compare.

Agree with what Gaia said in your three-4 week sometimes 2 month visit you can make certain comparisons...i doubt anyone feels that they know everything about a place based on their short visits but they can kind of make a judgment on "certain" things....
that said i think people fail to remember that there are good and bad things about every place...whether ur in the US, in Pak, in timbuktoo you can find somehting to complain about everywhere...if ur looking for a utopia to live in u will never find it... One should be grateful to Allah for halaal ka rizq, for good health and comfortable life no matter where one is residing
Cos our mums and.dads tell.us everything so we basically just steal their opinions

Seriously though, does the same apply to fobs who have left Pakistan. Can they comment on current affairs? Things have changed, and while they may be going back to Pakistan for holidays they are not there.

And hence why women or their families living abroad don't go for the better educated and smart ones there? I mean, they cant really be dumb enough to not want someone who is all that now can they? yet they do. Pretty elusive if you ask me.
Point of the matter is, there's always a 'other' side to everyone, be it this side of the pond or that. End of the day, to each their own. :-)

Its all just opinions. And just like that people in Pakistan who have never left Pakistan easily comment on Americans/West.

I was talking about ABCDs......not FOBs........ FOBs who left like more than 10 years ago might be out of date on some aspects too.........

however, it is true that abcd/bbcd etc don't know jack about Pakistan, same goes for expats who have been out of Pakistan for decades. So the deal is that abcds and bbcds don't talk about pakistaan, and if they do, their views do not matter as much as the views of those in Pakistan. At the same time the same holds true for people in Pakistan, when they talk about stuff pertaining to US or UK, their views dont matter as much.
I can live with that :)

lol you can find them in Pakistan affairs section. But joke aside i do act like as if i know everything about Pakistan. Haven't lived in Pak but we go visit every often.
