Why do you think one country’s economy is stronger then another. The first thing we hear is because of so and so country has Better Natural Resources…I thought the same too..but that isnt the case. What do you guys think?

Singapore has no natural resources but has a strong economy.
The ONLY thing that builds a strong economy is good government.

The main factor is IMO whether the coutry is able to export more than it imports. Or how much beneficial is its existence to others. If your country produces goods of anykind that the world demands then that country will reap the benefits of it. Natural resources do not make an economy better unless the resourceful country can make use of it.

A few factors in my opinion contribute to a crisp economy
Import:Export ratio
Working people (A family of 7, out of which 5 work) not the other way around
Less spending/acquiring of loans, and more investments (Coal, Natural Gas, Education)
Mass production of basic goods
Cater to other countries needs; make them depend on your production (China to the world)
Implemented policies that scrutinize every decision taken at a Provincial and National level.
Expansion of roadways, thus providing nonstop access within the country. (A trucker can get from Karachi-Peshawar 4X quicker than before, hence more flow of goods from one end to to another, which will directly lead to a close on demand-supply, leaving more to be exported).
Invest in industry; Grow your own, process your own, use whatever's need, and then sell the surplus. It will reduce the dependency of for example, Computer, Auto parts, etc...to be shipped, in some instances on a short notice, that take a chunk out of the country's already slim revenue. If it were produced locally, it would not only benefit the locals by providing jobs, but give the consumer opportunity to purchase at a lower price, while exporting to others at a slightly higher rate and profitting from it.

Well, a country needs many things to have strong economy. That includes education, natural resources, hard working population, value for merit (no nepotism), peaceful and secure environment, tolerance and justice in society, blah blah blah ... but most important is:
Good governance, full of visions and free from corruption.

when people have a good strong work ethic.
Opening your businesses city-wide at 12 or 1 pm in the afternoon, not giving proper service to anyone, greeting your customers with a friggin' frown.

singapore is tiny, and thats where its success came from, its really simple to have checks and balances in place in such a tiny country.
pakistan loses out on having 160 million people and its pretty hard to govern them, thats why i have said in the other on breaking up provences that its a good idea and we should be using districts not provences as its will be easier for them to govern there area, and thats where the success lies.
with districts getting all the power and provence power removed, all areas will get there rights and the areas will develop, more businesses will be made, jobs will be created, life standards will go up.

^So in an essence you're saying, elimination of Provinces into much smaller provinces is the way to have a better economy? How is that going to effect the people's attitude towards actually working? Chances are.....there will be more corruption because there are now more smaller accountable bodies. It's hard enough keep a tab on the parliament members with just 4 provinces, can you imagine, that multiplied by... X Number...

Unity first then good government can be build too and then there is a need of democracy to be respected by other trading countries.

You really have some Keen points there Teggy. I really agree with the infrastructure of transportation is really important.
As the answers I posted, with the rule of law and political stability more and more investment is brought in for the future as people and companies believe that they can invest there. I just wish Pakistan’s economy would get better by achieving the two key components that are missing.Ameen

Maan (Mother) key dua helps too. First try to save the country than talk about how to build a strong economy. Pakistan main logoon ko jan kay lalay paray hain. There is one suicide bomb blast everyday killing innocent people. In this situation only angels can help build a strong economy. Or maybe it is the plan-- turn the country into a tiny one by killing as many as you can then it will be easy to build strong economy.
