its americans that make america what it is. but, this nation was lynching blacks not long ago. killing each other in petty differences between north and south kinda what we see in third world countries today.
i think separation of church and state has to be up there. what say you.
Accountable government & the scale of the country. For most o its existence America had the most exploitable natural resources, and largest internal market, of any country.
totally agree…I would add that the second industrial revolution had oil has a main driven energy and USA had a lot of it…once little exhausted its acquired power was enough to secure oil supply whenever by using any means, including war…our world wide economy is based on exponential growth of energy consumption and so far hydrocarbon is the major source of energy, so being the first to propmote oil use on the planet some 150years ago was a decisive step towards becoming the worlds biggest power …but not the only one, as maddy said a really big internal market was a very important factor explaining the success of american companies abroad later…and also WWII!! don’t forget that the loans helping build europe back after WWII (Marshall plans) were also helping promoting american products and way of life (with Hollywood help) in Europe, further enhancing american industrial domination in the world…
Add to this, two huge oceans protecting our borders, no natural enemies north and south, resources, land that was well suited to farming, and a very stable governmental system.
Gentlemen, you take a large piece of land and put only the cream of the human race on it...
people who leave their families and lives behind to start a new...people who are prepared to work hard
and then they have kids with the same ethos
they invite people from abroad with the same ethos
and then they grow cranberries
horrid red berries with a horrible dry unpalatable taste
and then manage to make horrible drinks to send all over the world and market it so people try it
and they try it and hate it so they add it to rasberry juice and blackcurrant and peach
and to breakfast cereal
and to biscuits and cakes
and fruit yogurts
and savoury readymade dishes and
stuffing and
flapjacks
So you take something that nobody nees and sells it to them
Don’t be dogging cranberries, good for flusihing out your urine system you know, keep everything working top notch.
They’re an acquired taste but once they’ve grown on you they’re addictive, I think I drank too much cranberry juice today, it makes me all miserable and angry but I enjoy drinking it.
yes hardwork, enginuity and ability to accomplish stuff in teams played a role. abundant natural resources didnt hurt either. however, the transition from a mediocre world power in mid 40s to the only superpower in the world by 90s was truly remarkable. u have to give it to the baby boomers who had a big part to play in that.
America's promoting diversity, openly accepting people from all over the globe led to brain drain all across the globe and this is what made America great.
