I don't think it's outdated either. Have been seeing it a lot but now for spring either really bright reds or pinks are coming out from what I've seen. I personally don't like how PC is wearing it though with that saree, that black and gold, dark eyes and lip together seem over done 1000 times over. I never see Bollywood in bright nudes and fresh makeup on the red carpet. It's always so dark and vampy.

This colour looks like MAC's rebel with a dark plum (maybe MAC) lip liner. Try it, it works out nicely and very similar.
