Now all of a sudden she’s in a different country?! I know you’re in the U.S. So your fiancé wasn’t willing to drive an hour to DC suburbs but moved out of the country?! D@mn!

That being said…stop being so stupid with your money. You’re 29. Given that you can’t afford a house in the DC metro area, you’re clearly not rich. Even mentioning the car is ridiculous. Setting a budget of $1,000 just b/c she’s upset is stupid on your part. I’m sure she’s pissed that you’re delaying the wedding for whatever reason…but as long as she’s choosing to continue staying in this relationship, she’ll get over it. If she’s in a different country, send her a e-mail or talking to her on the phone or video chat. But thinking of spending $1,000 isn’t the way to solve this. It also sets a expectation on her part that whenever you do something to piss her off, you’re gonna drop $1,000 or something similar. Again, unless you can sustain that…which I don’t think you can based on what you’ve written in previous posts…don’t set that expectation.

And if you’re just dying to spend around $1,000…then I agree with the others advising that you get a plane ticket and visit her in person.
