Re: What kind of a vehicle owner are you/your family?
We are all about buying, no one leases in our house. We all get very attached to our cars and don't like the feeling of renting that comes with leasing.
I drive a Honda Accord-bought two years ago and alhamdulillah love my car. Previously drove Abbu's old Honda (which was like 20+ years old) and that's the car each and everyone of us learnt to drive on, including Abbu. We also have 1 Toyota SUV and 2 other Toyota cars in the house.
All Honda + Toyota house= desiness at it's best! :)
Re: What kind of a vehicle owner are you/your family?
Oh yeah, I did have to change the compressor on the car.
The transmission issues are well documented. It seems that the minivans fared the worst? though it was present from civic to pilot to odyssey. Anyway, i got tired of driving honda and decided to try something new.
Now, I ain't rich like TLK bhai to to "try" german and american cars and foot their bills!
The numerous phone threads gave you away. I put the 2+2 together here and got 7! :D
German cars are fun to drive, very well built, and the comfort factor just adds to the pleasure of driving. Over the life of the vehicle, it probably makes sense to spend the extra money but practicality of the purchase will determine if you should buy it or get a city cruiser for daily driving.

but who will pay $80 for oil change? Granted that stealerships aren't the way to go but then many mechanics don't even want to touch german cars.
As the saying goes, don't be a second owner and buy Mercedes out of warranty! :D
PS Fun, yes they are. I always wanted to own a Porsche 911 but.... :(

I have always been fascinated with the VW Bus, known today as Eurovan. Do you have pictures of it that you can possibly share?
Re: What kind of a vehicle owner are you/your family?
Here is a picture of the 1969 VW Camper made in Westfalia, I had one like it from 1972 thru 1982. I paid $2700/- and in 1982 was sold for $1400/-
the only drawback was @ 60 mph the wind would lift the pop top making an airgap in front, with only 1600 cc engine, would barely do 65 mph. but it was great for camping. ![]()

I am not a lease or finance person, I always buy my car and keep it for solid 4-5 years. I had and still keep Hondas and Toyotas for Pakistan use, stuck to BMW and Audi for here.
Leasing is tempting for business use where I can claim some taxes back, so far I have resisted.
