Zid is referring to obstinance.
If you are doing a Zid you are being obstinate.
Obstinate or obtuce is when you do not budge from personall feeling… be it right or wrong.
For example a child can be obstinate for an Ice cream 
Child may say: Mammy i want that one…
Mother will say: NO! (this may be becusase she has no money or becuase she is just mean)
Child will then be obstinate zidee and demand the
Wether he gets one or not depends on the situation.
But a zid is the result of failed compromise.
Pakistan and India are like to bald men with a zid over a comb.
It is usefull to neither of them but they still fight over it.
