I’m just curious as to what if anything your local mosque is saying about Syria.
My local mosque in Toronto ends each Khudbah on Friday with denounciations of Assad and has done extra supplications for his defeat for around a year. At one point after Jummah the imam prayed for Bashar Al-Assad and his companions to be destroyed, which led to one man in the mosque getting very vocally angry because he was a Syrian supporter of Assad … The guy was surrounded and shouted down by a group of anti-Assad Syrians, and finally the Imam had to (ironically) ask people to take their politics to outside the mosque.
Last Friday the Khudbah ended on how Assad has been using chemical weapons against his people, and how that makes him even worse of an enemy to Syria’s people than Israel is, because (and this is the Imam saying this) even Israel doesn’t use these weapons against Arabs.

In my Opinion what Bashar Asad has done simply to keep his Kursi, is utter cowardice. he has smeared the name of the whole clan name after Hazrat Ali Karam Allah Wajhu.
The Mosques every where are praying for the victims of Bashar's atrocities!

We have one MD Dr. from Syria who is a regular Khateeb in mosques across the metro area (we have rotation policy for khateebs in 19 mosques under one organization, what a blessing of unity). So this person is really very humble and God fearing and pious. He does bring Syria in his khutabah every time may be for 5 minutes and reminds everyone to pray for them and that compare and be thank full to Allah for the food and shelter we are enjoying as our brothers do not have anything to eat and how a 5 year girl whose parents were killed night before was wandering on the street alone. Reminded us that this could be our own kid and that keep them in your prayers. He never said anything political, pro or anti Assad. But that this and other civil wars in Egypt, Iraq and Pakistan are due to our own deeds, but we do nothing to change the course of our lives but like to blame west for all of our shortcomings.
