but fatwas are unanimous…also keep in mind the different madhabs (schools of thought) they vary slightly as well. but if u follow scholars of the same madhab than perhaps u’ll find more agreement.

This particular issue is complicated, because as Angel Eyes said net/phones did’nt exist back there. But there were cases during the time of the Sahaaba, where women would communicate with the males, offcourse with parda, but only on a need-to basis. Useless chatting is definetly not recommended and not good, will agree with you on that one.

But on the other hand, this particular conversation we are having right now, i dont this would be called haraam, due to four reasons:

There is pardah,
We are’nt physically present,
Its not a one on one conversation, and
We are talkin on matter of Deen and its not just any useless conversation.
