If finances are taken care of.......and city is not very far......i got no problem at all.......i would prefer it even.

Re: What is your fear

"Yeah urbanisation has lead to pollution, global warming, cutting down trees, damaging human and animal health etc but can we really survive without it?"

IMO, Urbanization has not led to this. Cities that have a good public transport system, where the population uses the transporation system effectively, should infact decrease emissions per capita. Whereas those who live in rural areas have to travel longer distances by cars - and contribute to more emissions per capita.

Urbanization is not resonsible for cuting down trees. Laziness in recycling, over-consumption (per capita) lead to more demand for forest products. One can make a cse that more people fit in per unit area in urban setting. Modern buildings are also more energy efficient. Lack of a large yard/garden with maintenance of lawn is also avoided.

It is a myth that urbanization is responsible for global warming. One should always consider emissions per capita and not absolute emissions urban vs rural.

Re: What is your fear

:cb: this is probably the truth

:omg: definitely!

I live in a small burb of Chicago and I miss the city so much! I wish I was back there…in the middle of it all…

Its an energy…a life…a culture…all of it.

Re: What is your fear

^ something about Mr. Monk seems to bring out the best among the resident comedians - funny stuff.

Re: What is your fear

Reha

a burb of chicago is not the same thing as a small town.
there is a heck of a lot of difference between lets say naperville, or oak brook, or schaumburg, versus a small town of the same size or even larger which is not a burn of a large city.

now quit feeling sorry for yourself and go make that overdue biryani for me.

Re: What is your fear

Both have advantages and disadvantages.

It all depends where someone has to live.

A lot of people cannot afford to live at a place of their liking so they adjust....get used to it and evenually start liking...loving.

But.......... there is always something good when you know when bessie the cow died in the neighborhood......:)

Re: What is your fear

Well I would love to - actually I prefer living at a place , where every body knows me from my name … And that could only be done in a small town .. Bhoy O bhoy I have lived at places , where half of the pollution was engaged in making whiskey and the other half drinks it ..

you go to your local corner shop to buy odds and sods and spend an hour chatting with the lady at the counter  ..

you go to your local pub ( GS mullahs - please read tea shop ) and the owner gets you a free pint - One on the house paddy

No worries if you drive an old banger - no one gives you a ’ oh my giddy aunt’ stare /look

And the lovely weekend markets in the wee town hall … meeting with farmer girls

urgh .. Sagar ko mere haaTh se laynaa k chala mein - one bloody sandwich short of a hell of a picnic

Re: What is your fear

doesn't bother me....i can handle both types.

Re: What is your fear

I grew up in a small place and I much prefer it to living in a city.. I'd defo want my kids to grow up outside London if possible, I found the quality of life 10000000000x better..

Re: What is your fear

i Fear independent women.

Re: What is your fear

I would prefer to live in big metropolitan cities any day.

I like the endless choices in clothing, food , night life etc etc !!

Bahrain in one tiny country but it has everything whilst still giving u enough time for family and friends. Life isn't that hectic !! Everything is close by, u have all int'l brands available here. It's Dubai slightly poor cousin !!

But if I had the option of moving to Dubai, I'd leave Bahrain tonight !!
