What is your favorite non desi dish ?

Re: What is your favorite non desi dish ?

A Fat juicy Steak :k:

What is sauerbrateN? Oh man..i so want to try steaks/beef etc. but hubby says they're all pork (the big juicy steaks they show on TV). My brother used to bring home filet mignon steaks from stew leonards, expensive as hell .

Re: What is your favorite non desi dish ?

I like burgers, pizza, chinese..hmmm... idk. depends on my mood really.

Beef Steaks and Roast Beef are all Cow meat. You can get the halal portions at your local Desi butcher shop. Then you cook them at home. Halal filet mignon is also expensive as hell. 7 to 10 dollars per pound uncooked.

really? didn't know that, would you happen to know if its all their locations or a selected few?

Sauerbraten is German pot roast...a cut of beef that you marinade in brine and sliced onions for 3 days (brine is vinegar, salt, bay leaves, cloves, peppercorns, and a few other spices) Then cook the meat in the brine for like 3 or 4 hours. Remove the meat and onions...add crushed gingersnap cookies which sweeten up the brine and thicken it to gravy....add shredded red cabbage, let it steam...then drop dumplings on top, steam till done....Its a really really special, wonderful meal :)

Pork doesnt come in cuts that are referred to as steak but you can see which is pork because raw pork is light pink in color, very different from beef. Most beef steaks are indeed expensive but worth every penny :) IMHO... But really, you shouldnt worry about steaks being pork, they arent...even the ones on TV.

I got this information in 2006 confirmed it on their own website outback.com there was a news article which is not there anymore.

But see this for more information.

^ thanks! appreciate the info.

Re: What is your favorite non desi dish ?

Outback is my very favorite restaurant. I have had a perfect meal and a lovely time EVERY time I've gone there. Their food is always perfect, cooked to order and the service has been impeccable each and every time...they make sure that the kids get their crayons and coloring books, get their meals first, etc etc. And their prices are about the same - or even better than places like applebees. You know, I had a business dinner one time way back when at Smith n wollensky steak house, I had like a 300 dollar meal - and it was truly fabulous but it was really no better than the 15 dollar meal at outback!

Re: What is your favorite non desi dish ?

^ crayons and colouring books are always a hit with us! for that reason Fridays, Chilis, Ruby Tuesdays...all good!

Mirch, thank you for the information. I called the Outback in our area and the manager confirmed for me that the rack of lamb is halal. I guess one other option for us to enjoy in our severly halal food limited area.

You’re my kind of girl! :lifey:
I LOVE sushi!

BBQ's lamb chops - love 'em!

BTW, i get the impression that lamb chops r v expensive in USA, r they really? I don't think they r very expensive here, bcos ppl have them all the time. Actually Lamb / Mutton is the most commonly available meat in ethnic butchers. Its all reared in the UK, really fresh, never frozen.

Re: What is your favorite non desi dish ?

steaks are pork?? :omg:
