@gr00vy chick: In local market they see instant gratification, client walks in, chooses an outfit, deposits the cash and its a done deal...with the foreign clientèle it is a back and forth thing and apparently with the amount of cash they are raking in from local customers, it seems to be least of their priorities. Bad business model though, no matter how successful you become.
I know you’re based in London, but have you heard of Imaani Studio in manchester? http://www.imanistudio.com/
They work closely with HSY (think they had him in their store to do bridal consultations at the end of last year) and other Pakistani designers and you can order outfits via them. It’s one option to save you the legwork of chasing up designers who aren’t getting back to you!
It is very difficult! Hence me turning into bridezilla! Its little things that create trust ie do they bother to return your calls/emails, are they listening to you or constantly throwing their ideas at you.
Send them what you like and make them run through it with you ie what materials are used, what sort of kaam it is etc. I always quiz them to make sure they know what I want and when Ive created a platform of knowing how much they know I then tell them whatever they have missed/got wrong.
Also I am hoping to have samples sent to me before I make my final decision.
It would make more sense to go Pakistan but all I need our my bridal outfits. I dont wear gold and most accessories I can buy from here so its a waste of money to travel so far.
Mainly due to too much ego. Admin teams cost money which is why they probably don't want to employ anyone to do something that they think they can do themselves albeit not very well. Means less money in their own back pockets if they're paying some other poor soul.

Iv heard of Hilton, sounds great the one near me is quite far! Thanks, gud luck 2 u aswelll. Right im finishin work and going to watch Dear John :D Take care xx
in general, I think its not a good idea to get an outfit copied from someone other than the designer. it rarely turns out the way it looked from the original designer so unless you're prepared for that, I'd say look at what they have made themselves and choose from those designs.
I would especially hesitate to ask another big designer to copy an outfit from a fellow designer...they probably wouldnt do it for ethical reasons and in addition, be insulted. If you're in contact with Rani Emaan, they already have their own original and beautiful designs, why not go for one of those?
Fasadi it isnt rocket science think about these designers existed brides were still looking beautiful on their big day. If its a HSY outfit for example, Hassan Shehriyar doesnt sit there and make it himself. Hes just a consultant type figure who gives it to the same tailors most probably over in Pindi!
Its no headache asking a bridal shop in places like Pindi (bearing in mind they will have been designing bridal outfits for generations they wont just be a random ex doctor or wannabe gay designer) to replicate your dress and I personally have no issues with doing that.
If a designer isnt going to bother to return my calls or emails but still reckons he can charge me $6,000 for a suit then they really are deluded! Why should I sacrifice not being able to have an outfit that I want because of their negligence? I will utilise the benefits of Pakistan and get the same thing made another place.
In terms of Rani Emaan, I really like her outfits but I had my heart set on this particular white one for my walima. I will only be using Rani's services for my post wedding outfits and a Pindi tailor for the white one.
I know a guy who's dad designed my mothers bridal clothes (stunning champagne gold and red). They have been in the bridal work business for a very long time. So thats my guy!
It could be a huge gamble but I will be sure to post pics up if I do get it made for the verdict!
