OOOOOOh flashback! When I was in the tenth grade, my parents enrolled me in a private all-girls Muslim school. I had gone to an American school previously and since that school only went up to junior high, I had to move to a local high school (very few of them at the time). Anyhow...........I was used to saying "Happy New Year" on January 1st all of my life. BUT things didn't work this way in the Muslim School. And one of my classmates, who had attended this school for years, knew about this and decided to play a trick on me. She told me to go say, "Happy New Year" to the Muslim teachers (we had come back from winter vacation).............so I boldly go into the open teacher's language with my cheerful self and wish them "Happy New Year!!!" I got ignored by some teachers.........the Islamic Studies teacher gave me an annoyed look........and my homeroom teacher smiled sympathetically at my awkwardness. BUT nobody responded back.
That sneaky friend of mine later said, "Ha ha.....Muslims don't believe in the worldly new year. Our new year starts with the month of Muharram."
So, if this girl is a Muslim.......it's possible that she doesn't believe in Jan 1st being the New Year. Or if she's not Muslim.............maybe she just doesn't believe in certain holidays/celebrations. As long as she was polite otherwise........it's no big deal that she didn't wish you back.
thanks red!! its always nice to see u comment coz u always solve the problems and i guess your right yes she is a muslim but as you said mayb doesnt believe in jan 1st been the new year!!
