I feel ,it’s a waste of time and money for both the nations.(I do not know if either side is collecting money from the visitors).Apart from tourism angle,it does not serve any purpose. It has got no role in augmenting or decreasing the friendship or enemity between both the nations. Then why do they carry out such `Tamashas’ ,that too on everyday basis? ![]()

Re: What is this Wagah ceremony for?
Its fun to watch, it serves no definite purpose (just like the changing of the guards at Buck house), can be a tourist attraction for sure. Its free on the India side, but if I remember correctly locals are charged a small fee on the Pak side.

Re: What is this Wagah ceremony for?
wagha ceremony is to show the world in a transparent way that Pakistani nation isnt afraid of bharati rants regarding military superiority.Bollywood inspired indian media which is fooling indians would start fooling the world if displays of such sorts are put to an end.
waisay everyone one on wagha youtube videos say Pakistani soldiers are more professional and fierce looking while indian soldiers look mal-nourished and sick.Recently a an indian BSF soldier dislocated his knee while trying to replicate Pakistani ranger's move and Indians after this incident proposed to make the parade less aggressive but Pakistan isnt interested.
Re: What is this Wagah ceremony for?
i agree, i fink it’s childish, oh who can outdo the other in marching(i think that’s what it is, haven’t ever been there), it’s like first grade or something
what do you do when another indian asks you a detailed question about pakistan or which city you’re from in pakistan, you better know

Re: What is this Wagah ceremony for?
Tourism. Even though they might not be collecting money directly, the ceremony is one of the 'attractions' for tourists visiting areas around Amritsar and Lahore. I think it is also good for the people living in border areas. They have set up small businesses (food/transport etc) for people visiting those ares.
I don't think it costs a LOT either. The flag lowering has to be done (tradition), why not make it a little more fun?
