This is a tough thing to deal with!! I have my eldest who is NOT a picky eater - he goes FAR beyond that, to the point that he's been treated for feeding aversion (would rather starve than eat). Middle guy is a true "picky eater" who wants to know things like "what is this made of?" and my youngest is just like ME...LOVES to eat, prefers a trip to the grocery store over a trip to the playground lol.

The best thing to do is make the food kid-friendly...make smiley faces with ketchup, make people shapes using meats, veggies and breads. Use hero worship (like THIS is what spiderman eats etc) and if you have more than one child, make it a little competitive...I have 3 boys so my hubby acts like an announcer at a NASCAR race "Gentlemen - START...YOUR....ENGINES!!!! ok...take a bite...chew chew chew....oopie is in the lead here, closely followed by binky who is chewing up the fast lane...." etc etc.

Middle guy, the fussy one, he needs to be reminded not to inspect each bite - just close your eyes, put it in your mouth and eat it. He gets motivated by what he can have for dessert. Use everything and anything that would motivate them - yes even if its ice cream. I mean, you can give a teaspoon of ice cream as reward and they'll be happy, its not like you're giving them a full-blown sundae yeah? Or toys, games etc...if you finish dinner, you can play your video game. If you DONT eat, you dont get your game till you eat a really good meal.

Dont let it stress you too much...fussy eaters WILL eat eventually. Feeding AVERSION is different; they will NOT eat. So if that seems to be the case with your little one, start with a pediatric GI specialist.

If the child doesnt eat, dont give the child anything at all, take the whole plate away and keep all food out of reach.

Enjoy your food happily in front of the child and totally ignore child.

Let child become SOOOOOOO hungry and REFUSE to give child anything child asks for.

After child has missed a couple of mealtimes, child will b so hungry child will eat anything.

Also do NOT give child any juices or milk etc until meal time. Water is ok to give.
