What is this called?

What is the proper name of this kind of collar? I know it’s not Chinese Collar, becase chinese collar comes around all the way.

Also, does anyone have any idea how to sew it? I want to try it. So please, please please ask anyone around how to make it. Otherwise I would have to pull apart my mom’s and my brother’s collars

Re: What is this called?

the proper name is:

phansi ka punda

Re: What is this called?

It's more like sherwani ka collar.

Re: What is this called?

its v nice
yea i would call it a modified sherwani collar too

Re: What is this called?

its very nice, its like a half sherwani collar with a V in front.

Re: What is this called?

You can also call it a "high neck with a v-galla" and most darzi's would understand. Or a modified nehru collar. It's a good looking outfit.

Re: What is this called?

something tells me that it is a nehru collar, though at another website i saw it being called a chinese collar.

i dont know any good darzi's here in TO...the most complicated stuff that i had to get done....i would take it an auntie or something, but she's not in town. so i need to know how to make this myself. so any hints would be nice :)

Re: What is this called?

It is lovely. Very elegant.

Re: What is this called?

Yes, i think that’s wot it is also. That’s how we describe it to tailors in Pakistan. Very nice outfit, simple and sophisticated.

Re: What is this called?

Lovin it!

Re: What is this called?

isnt that HSY? i loved it. i would like it in black maybe....

Re: What is this called?

Ohhhhhh I wanted this outfit.
Just in a different color though.

Re: What is this called?

yup yup...it's an HSY outfit. I want something like that for eid, but not in white. but now that i think of it, trying to match a lining in anything that is not white is kinda hard...so i am just going to go for the basic design...like the collar :p

Re: What is this called?

Im surprised darzis wud understand such a complicated thing..

I went to a darzi and i asked him for a skirt he gave me a burka :grumpy:

Re: What is this called?

ahh don't even get me started on the stupid darzis. i took a nice kapra...nice design and everything, and asked him to make this gala that was really hot back in 2002...the latknay wala gala. anyways, he made that stupid thing into something that resembles a high neck! and then i told him to make a specific design on a specific kapra, he made that on design on a totally different kapra. andddd you know how you get a zipper at the back of a kameez...looks totally hot. told a separate darzi to do that, expecting that he would put some plates on the back so the zip would be atleast functional. nooooooooo he did not do that! now it looks like a kameez with a misplaced zip. stupid idiots!

Re: What is this called?

Man i dunno why they’re so stupid.. is it that hard to follow directions ?? :grumpy:

Re: What is this called?

i dont know what’s wrong with those people! but you know what, you should never give them more than 2 suits at a time…they get too overwhelmed with the wor

Re: What is this called?

They just wanna get the work done with and
collect their money.

They don't care about messing up our beautiful outfits. :(

Re: What is this called?

absolutely sajal. right on the money! wouldn't it be better if we knew how to sew stuff ourselves...sigh

Re: What is this called?

Man, we don’t have problems that bad with talilors in Pakistan! I mean mostly just with fittings, sizes (too tight, too loose) etc…but not like the ones u lot r speaking of…it is hard to find a good private tailor, anywhere…but the ones in the boutiques r usually good…u shud ask around to see which ones have the best reputations…that is if u don’t have relatives there who can help u out with that stuff…

Last yr. in Lahore it was crazy for my cousins’ wedding…a bunch of us (girls and women) came from abroad and we all had to get at least 3 or 4 outfits made EACH for all the functions…and in about 1 to 2 weeks only! We had to go to a couple of different boutiques, plus one private tailor (who was also making our simple clothes for daily wear!)…and we all looked very nice  So i was quite impressed at how fast they were all made…those ppl work so hard
