well in Islamic articles foster is used for raza'ai but its possible that its not the exact meaning.

Razai bhai is not necessarily foster brother.. One may have shared raza'at but may not be fostered by same parents. like in gaon dehaat sometime chachi/tayi/maami breastfeed children of relatives in certain circumstances (like mother is unable to do so), but the child is fostered (brought-up) by his/her own parents.. so technically raza'at is not always fostering

i think i finally got it...i had to search in so many different ways.

foster = paalnaa posnaa, parvarish karnaa

is liye vo bhai jiskii parvarish kii gaii ho usko Faarsii ke qaa'ide se yeh lafz mujhe milaa jo nihaayat hii mnauzooN bhii hai aur mujhe saHeeH bhii lagaa.

the Hindi word is paalak = paalne waalaa = paalanhaar

shishoo paalak = foster child
