what is the street rate for pound sterling vs RS?

i see signs here in London 136RS for each £1.

im thinking i will take some RS with me instead of dealing with money issues when im there.

what is the rate you can get in money exchange offices in lahore?

what commisoin do they take, would you advise me to exchange here or there.

we are talking about 400/500 pounds (£).

**first of all if u change money on the street its illegal and secondly 400/500 pounds is a small amount to worry about exchange rate. its best to deal with proper Banks. if caught in Pak/India, u never know what they'll charge u with...it may even include terrorism. its not far fetched, it has happened. u need one corrupt police man and there are plenty.

my advice is be safe, use credit card, take traveler's cheques and cash them at any Bank. carrying cash is also dangerous in today's Pakistan. they'll NOT hesitate to kill even for 100 pounds.**

ok so you advise to not to take any chances. that is why i think ill take currency with me.

travelers cheque when i cash it there ill still be carrying around £150 at a time when i cash them. also paying 2% here and 3% over there (to cash and exchange it) doesnt sound acceptable id rather pay 1% exchange rate fee here and be done with it. i can then go about my business without entering a bank or exchange there.

**i dunno about Pakistan, but its illegal to bring indian rupee notes in or take them out of the country. check b4 u leave if its ok to acrry Pakistani cash. besides, given Pakistan's law N order situation, it wudn't be advisable or safe to carry large sun of cash.

its of course upto u what u dee m fit. i wud caution u to be on the safe side. **

Today karachi market was closed at :

136.70 buying

137.70 selling

Should be same in lahore as well !

People and currency dealers play with thousands of pounds on daily basis without any hassle - your amount is just peanuts..

it would be around 70,000 rs max - and for a good holiday it wont last more than 20 days :)
