What is the punishment?

For someone to declare something as shirk when it isn’t?

Re: What is the punishment?

No one can just DECLARE anything as Shirk.
Fatwaas can only be given by Ulema who have knowledge about Quran and Hadees
Can you please explain - is it something specific that you are talking about?

Re: What is the punishment?

Not just fatwas but non-scholars claiming something to be shirk based on their own opinions. What if they are wrong? Do they have to deal with in the hereafter anything or are they off the hook?

Are there any specific references that explains what happens to people who wrongfully label something that is shirk.

Re: What is the punishment?

It's hard to mess this one up...I mean, nothing can be more clear cut than shirk, no?

Re: What is the punishment?

I agree. Shirk is a pretty clear cut concept. I don't even think there is disagreement within the sects of Islam

Re: What is the punishment?

Shirk from my understanding is when one associates someone else with Allah almigty and Allah has given us a wonderful test to findout if one is in the act of shirk in Surah Al Ikhlas (C:112 V:1-4).
We do not need to go to a Mufti to find a simple answer like this out.

If one accuses you or anyone for shirk then ask them to prove it under these verses and if they can’t, Allah almighty has the power over all doings and happenings in this life and after.

Re: What is the punishment?

Directly associating another being as god with Allah (SWT) is clear shirk. Whereas, venerating someone or supplicating to someone other than Allah (SWT) may not be the clearest forms of shirk, or something easy for many to grasp.

There are likely many other examples of not-so-clear shirk, but the preceding two are the only ones I could think of at the moment.

Re: What is the punishment?

Not necessarily. You have people who believe Intercession is shirk, having a pir is shirk, etc.

Then there are people who disagree with this.
